Do you seriously believe GWB will attack Iran in the next 22 months? With no backing from Congress, EU, NATO, or UN?
Seems to me he spent many months gathering this very support before attacking Iraq. Why would he do different?
Furthermore, GWB could have pitched a fit about the Brit hostages, saying the coalition had been attacked (it had!), & started bombing Iran last week. But he didn’t! Actually, he did no more than the EU, NATO, & the UN. Talk!
I’ll bet he has a file full of Iranian attacks on coalition forces, yet what is he hiding them for? His memoirs? No, this is not a man who wants war with Iran now.
I don’t think he will start something this dangerous that he cannot complete while in office, & would be fearful of leaving the unfinished task to his successor, Pub or Rat.
I see GWB spending the next 22 months trying to bring stability to Iraq, a huge task that will require his full attention, both politically & militarily. A war with Iran is not in his cards, unless Iran were to blatantly attack us first.
Nothing I’d like better that to flatten the mullahs, amanutjob, the nuke plants, & the Iranian military. I just think GWB’s plate is full!
The 7% that supported a military response?
Commander in Chief. He just picks up the phone and bombs drop.
There. Fixed the headline.
In addition to not having any allies we have powerful forces within and without the Government working tirelessly to ensure our defeat.
I believe that the forces within the Government include the State Department, the CIA, and the Democrat Party. The forces without the Governmnt include the main stream media and college and university professors. The above dedicated organizations and parties are aided and abetted mightily by a voting public that as a whole, does not know its ass from a hole in the ground.
The mullahs and ayiotollas are not only smiling, they are laughing their heads off.
“There is only one cnation left on this planet to defend the world from islamic terrorism and that this the United States of America. I think President Bush may have realized by now that when the time will come to forcefully deal with the ultimate regime of terror, the islamic terrorist regime in Tehran, we are going to do it alone, we have no real allies left who are willing to fight for their freedom and their way of life, it is up to the USA to preserve it for us and the rest of the world.”
I’ll take Israel, Australia, Japan and Poland against the world any day of the week. Might be like WWII where the Axis comes close to winning at first but they will all die in the end.
“It isnt even the beginning of the end. First we must see through the collapse of American public will and the withdrawal of most US forces from the Middle East. Then we will see the abrupt tilting of the new Iraqi government towards their co-religionists in Teheran. Then well get to see the development of the Iranian nuclear weapons, and the escalation of threats.”
Yes, read Ezekial 38 in the bible. Israel will be attacked by Gog and Magog. These are the countries of Iran, Syria, Iraq, Sudan, Lebanon, Russia. By the description in the passage, it appears Israel uses her Sampson option destroying the invading armies. It says it takes Israel several months to clean up the carnage and she expands her land. This is a regional war, the enemies declare a peace treaty lasting 3 1/2 years according to Daniel. Then Christ says that when we cry peace and security, sudden destruction as the world has never known will occur.
This leads me to believe an all out nuclear attack on America and is suppported in Revelations. Revelations talks about the beginning of the last and final world war, with 1/3 of mankind dead and 200 million combatants. The catalyst of the war is the angels being unbound at the river Euphrates between Iran and Iraq.
The precise death toll can be calculated by measuring the pints of blood in the human body and reading the scripture in Revelations. The river of blood from the war is high as a horses bridle, 4 feet and two furlongs in length (this is 2 miles if memory serves me right). Watch North Korea as the pawn that truly starts WWIII which will spread to Japan.
“How is GWB gonna LEGALLY attack Iran w/o the consent of Congress? If he did, even the Pubs would vote for his impeachment & removal”
Bush has power to initiate attacks on any country he chooses without Congressional approval. I speculate those three carriers off the coast of Iran aren’t there for simply show. Problem is, once you attack Iran with airpower you only slow their progress down and then you provide them with a justification to attack us with a nuclear weapon in the not so distant future. Of course, this will happen either way in my opinion so may as well enjoy a bit more life before WWIII...

Actually Britain requested no comments from POTUS on this matter and he obliged. Bush has very little public support and that makes him dangerous, he will do what is right and not care about his legacy. His biggest downfall was listening in how to be more compassionate toward guys like Al Sadr and Al Malaki. View the map and our bases. We are in attack stance on three sides of Iran, the plan was delayed by his compassionate conservatism when he shoulda been more Reaganesque about the whole matter.
Brit blook lucks like the Hunchback of Notra Dam. Whathisname? Sad bunch a marys’.
Raises a good question, ie, how this incident affects the various on- lookers in the world. Israel would be justified by the British nonresponse as well as by the US House failure even to take note before scuttling off on another squalid vacation, to conclude that the Western Alliance is not worthy of trust.
The rest of the moslem world must surely see this as marking just one more turn in the tiresome waxing and waning of the infidel, draining all meaning from the events of the last four years--hence Sadr's sticking his fat little head up from his protective crouch, and the Iranian a-holes' declaring National Nuclear Day today. They know the left has vitiated the West and they fully intend to pursue the advantage.
Russia and China must be grinning as they look at their cards and deduce how much the Brits, or we, are willing to put on the table from now on. India may be reconsidering who they want to throw in with.
It ain't just about a pack of feckless Royal marines and sailors.

Gosh, you’re even more cheerful than me!
“And we will all go together when we go.
Every Hottentot and every Eskimo.
When the air becomes uranius
We will all go simultaneous...
When we all go together when we go.” - Tom Lehrer

So, Tony Blair went to the EU, NATO, & the UN for support, yet wanted his ally, GWB, to keep quiet. Could it be that GWB couldn’t get broad support for a free beer bash, much less an attack on Iran?
The president does not act in a void. Neither does he bear alone the consequences of his actions. Witness the ‘06 elections, where the Pubs took a beating because of GWB’s mishandling of Iraq.
Bush is part of a dynasty, so the family wont let him threaten his legacy, nor theirs. The Bushes have never acted w/o a strong base of support. GWB had it in ‘02-’03, he doesn’t now. Sad, but true.
Absolutely right, of course. I was speaking in temporal terms, I guess!
True enough. Make that we’re ALMOST on our own!
One reason ‘08 is so important. If a Dim or a squishy Pub gets in... yikes!

Bush has one part of the strategy right on Iran. He proved a point that the EU cannot negotiate with thugs. You have to kill thugs. At this point, he has nothing to lose on his legacy or his families legacy going in. I expect an attack, history will tell us who was right in the end.
