I've been a sometime poster here and lurking here for a while and had to ask about exactly what do a majority of conservatives feel we need to do about Iraq and Iran. It may seem so trivial at this point, but there's never been a unanimous consensus about when exactly we have "finished the job" in Iraq, or for that matter, exactly what the job is. Now, when it comes to the middle east and how do deal with the world of islam in general, I concur that conservatives and their leaders are 1,000,000 more times more trustworthy than quasi-socialists and the leftist leaders, as Pelosi, Carter and many others have just dome an apt job proving.
That said, I do believe if the general conservative committee and the hawkish activists calling for staying in Iraq and dealing with Iraq, and the middle east using our current course of action, want Americans to stay behind them they will need to provide evidence that the "Iraq the Model" concept will actually work and that the "hearts and minds" of Iraqis and Middle Easterners can be won. They will need to prove this can be done without squandering too much more American lives, money and resources.
The anti-jihad site http://www.jihadwatch.org/ currently has a news story about a huge Al-Sadr rally that Iraqi Shiites are behind and that Iraqis, including those Republicans were so adamant on sacrificing American lives to free, are supporting and not denouncing the rally in any way. This is from a site that freepers often themselves cite to show the htreat of violent jihad, but here they show prove that a good conservative thing to do would be to just leave Iraq now, not make our troops suffer anymore and let Iraq implode as it will. The Islamic Arab Iraqis are showing little of any appreciation for our army's sacrifice; indeed the only people there who are are Assyrians and secularist Kurds.

Many freepers here agree with his views on mass immigration of muslims in the West. How many would agree with his view that leaving Iraq and encouraging the Sunni-Shia-Kurd split, provided we be sure to provide portection to Kurds and Christians, the only people there who have any genuine loyalty to America. Evidence does continue to mount that letting the Iraqi tensions biol over there after we leave is better for us than trying to do the impossible and would ultimately leave us free to take on Iran.
And lastly, I do wonder why conservatives don't make it more of a priority to start using energy sources other than oil and reducing oil dependence, especially of middle eastern oil. First off, if conservatives put more emphasis on using solar, wind, geothermal and water energy, hydrogen and electric powered cars and other such sources, it does not imply that they are becoming Al Gore-esqe enviroweeenies. It could easily mean they are tired of letting oil dependency dictate our policy in the Middle East, tired of it coercing us not to deal with Iran or Iraq as harshly as we should and especially tired of trying to think of the Saudis as remotely resembling an "ally". Maybe we still like big oil companies dictating our energy economies, but we live in times where we can't afford to do that anymore. Also, looking more to oil sands in Canada or Mexican oil may not be as ideal either, but that's still better than trying to play nice with Iran and treating the Saudis and Qataris and Kuwaitis as our friends as opposed to some of our worst enemies, which they are.
Largely, this is just bringing issues up to see what Freepers say. I still think the above measures addressed would be good conservative things to do.

The first thing you need to do is your homework.
What our troops are fighting now is centuries of traditional corruption. Apple pie and baseball are symbolic of America, corruption and thievery are Iraqi tradition. We’ve already won this one, regardless of what the MSM would like you to believe.
War takes patience, unless you want to go hardcore. (Read: Hiroshima/Nagasaki) Soldiers die fighting, that’s their job. Military service is not for the weak of heart, and that’s why the left hates it. If the whiners would relax the ROE, we could wrap this thing up by next Tuesday. But again, P A T I E N C E. Bush 41 stopped short, because he wasn’t into “Nation Building”. As it turns out, Bush 43 is.
America’s biggest problem with War is our lack of patience, and the sissy approach the media takes, and projects.

Our overall goal is for every muslim on earth to live in a country dedicated to fighting the extremists that would do violence anywhere.
Tall order for sure. In cases like Egypt, Indonesia, Pakistan the existing governments seem to do their best.
In the case of Afghanistan 9/11/01 it was clearly not the case, so we decided to change the whole government. Iraq is the other pressing problem.
Everyone of these places can become a churning nest of very nasty uncivilized animals, which is what we got in Iraq—probably to our surprise.
The second issue is WMD, which got us into Iraq, and lingers as the issue with Iran.
The alternative for Iraq would have been staying the course of diplomacy, inspections, fly over bombings of suspected facilities, etc. In retrospect it might have been better.
Patient commitment is key to avoiding another 9/11/2001 or worse.
These things seem to go case by case. We probably need to accept that for the foreseeable future, a few thousand casualties may be our price.
Bush and his administration have not done a good job of informing people about the threat of islamic extremists.
Freely available information should be enough. Unfortunately the bought-and-paid-for information provided by the MSM drowns it out.
