Can you tell which house belongs to an environmentalist??

LOOK OVER THE DESCRIPTIONS OF THE FOLLOWING TWO HOUSES AND SEE IF YOU CAN TELL WHICH BELONGS TO AN ENVIRONMENTALIST.

HOUSE # 1: A 20-room mansion (not including 8 bathrooms) heated by natural gas. Add on a pool (and a pool house) and a separate guest house all heated by gas. In ONE MONTH ALONE this mansion consumes more energy than the average American household in an ENTIRE YEAR. The average bill for electricity and natural gas runs over $2,400.00 per month. In natural gas alone (which last time we checked was a fossil fuel), this property consumes more than 20 times the national average for an American home. This house is not in a northern or Midwestern “snow belt,” either. It’s in the South.

HOUSE # 2: Designed by an architecture professor at a leading national university, this house incorporates every “green” feature current home construction can provide. The house contains 4,000 square feet (4 bedrooms) and is nestled on an arid high prairie in the American southwest. A central closet in the house holds geothermal heat pumps drawing ground water through pipes sunk 300 feet into the ground. The water (usually 67 degrees F.) heats the house in winter and cools it in summer. The system uses no fossil fuels such as oil or natural gas, and it consumes 25% of the electricity required for a conventional heating/cooling system. Rainwater from the roof is collected and funneled into a 25,000 gallon underground cistern. Wastewater from showers, sinks and toilets goes into underground purifying tanks and then into the cistern. The collected water then irrigates the land surrounding the house. Flowers and shrubs native to the area blend the property into the surrounding rural landscape.

HOUSE # 1 (20 room energy guzzling mansion) is outside of Nashville, Tennessee. It is the abode of that renowned environmentalist (and filmmaker) Al Gore.

HOUSE # 2 (model eco-friendly house) is on a ranch near Crawford, Texas. Also known as “the Texas White House,” it is the private residence of the President of the United States, George W. Bush.

So whose house is gentler on the environment? Yet another story you WON’T hear on CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, MSNBC or read about in the New York Times or the Washington Post. Indeed, for Mr. Gore, it’s truly “an inconvenient truth.”

I can honestly say that the biggest hypocrites I have dealt with in life have all been fervent liberals. It’s definitely the ‘give you the shirt off of someone else’s back’ club.

With Occidential Petrolum crawling all over the Gore homestead, mining rights don’t you know, you’d think Al could ask a favor and have them drill holes for a geothermal heating and cooling system like George Bush has in his home.

Since we’re posting email:

Subject: History Lesson

Humans originally existed as members of small bands of nomadic
hunters/gatherers. They lived on deer in the mountains during the
summer and would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in the winter.

The two most important events in all of history were the invention of
beer and the invention of the wheel. The wheel was invented to get
man to the beer. These were the foundation of modern civilization and
together were the catalyst for the splitting of humanity into two
distinct subgroups:

1. Liberals
2. Conservatives.

Once beer was discovered, it required grain and that was the
beginning of agriculture. Neither the glass bottle nor aluminum can were
invented yet, so while our early humans were sitting around waiting for them
to be invented, they just stayed close to the brewery. That’s how
villages were formed.

Some men spent their days tracking and killing animals to B-B-Q at
night while they were drinking beer. This was the beginning of what is
known as the Conservative movement.

Other men who were weaker and less skilled at hunting learned to live
off the conservatives by showing up for the nightly B-B-Q’s and doing
the sewing, fetching, and hair dressing. This was the beginning of
the Liberal movement.

Some of these liberal men eventually evolved into women.
The rest became known as girliemen.

Some noteworthy liberal achievements include the domestication of
cats, the invention of group therapy, group hugs, and the concept of
Democratic voting to decide how to divide the meat and beer that
conservatives provided.

Over the years conservatives came to be symbolized by the largest,
most powerful land animal on earth, the elephant. Liberals are symbolized
by the jackass.

Modern liberals like imported beer (with lime added), but most prefer
white wine or imported bottled water. They eat raw fish but like
their beef well done. Sushi, tofu, and French food are standard liberal
fare.

Another interesting evolutionary side note: most of their women have
higher testosterone levels than their men.
Most social workers, personal injury attorneys, journalists, dreamers
in Hollywood and group therapists are liberals.
Liberals invented the designated hitter rule because it wasn’t fair
to make the pitcher also bat.

Conservatives drink domestic beer. They eat red meat and still
provide for their women. Conservatives are big-game hunters, rodeo cowboys,
lumberjacks, construction workers, firemen, medical doctors, police
officers, corporate executives, athletes, Marines and generally
anyone who works productively. Conservatives who own companies hire other
conservatives who want to work for a living.

Liberals produce little or nothing. They like to govern the producers
and decide what to do with the production.
Liberals believe Europeans are more enlightened than Americans. That
is why most of the liberals remained in Europe when conservatives were
coming to America. They crept in after the Wild West was tamed and created
a business of trying to get more for nothing.

Here ends today’s lesson in world history: It should be noted that a

Liberal may have a momentary urge to angrily respond to the above
before forwarding it.

A Conservative will simply laugh and be so convinced
of the absolute truth of this history that it will be forwarded
immediately to other true believers and to a few liberals just to make them
mad !

I’ve got a geothermal heat pump in my house (built in 2000). It’s made by a company called Waterfurnace and I’ve had nothing but trouble with it. The installation and service are just terrible. The compressor has been shutting down two or three times a day for the last two months (usually in the early morning hours) forcing me to run up and down two flights of stairs to hit the power breaker in the middle of the night, and Waterfurnace has done absolutely nothing to correct this situation since February even though the installation is still under warranty.

"’ve had nothing but trouble with it."

Sounds like bleeding edge technology.

Not really. It’s due to an incompetent installation and a near-criminal disregard by Waterfurnace of its warranty obligations.

You could make the argument that Waterfurnace is unable to find and train enough qualified personnel to install and service their equipment, but that shouldn’t be my problem.

Well it could be all of our problems if they start importing workers from foreign countries for this work that Americans just won't do.

You have to hit the power breaker on the unit itself or on your main circuit breaker box?

Sounds like it could be a little low on R-22 and shutting off on low pressure. You might try replacing the filter first though.
