I’ve visited a Supermax, and it’s nothing like — it’s just about the polar opposite — of a ‘traditional’ maximum security prison.
In a regular max, for example, it’s a virtual city of prisoners and guards, there’s lots of activity, and there’s the constant insane SOUND of the prison, shouting, fighting, screeching.
By contrast, the Supermax is deathly quiet. Everybody is locked up, in solitary. There is no window in or out, only a slot for meal trays. The guards sit in internal towers, watching video-screens. The exercise ‘cube’ for one-hour-per-day exercise is also in solitary, in a concrete cube with 30 foot walls and barbed wire over the top.
I don’t think they are allowed access to a library or writing materials. Perhaps they have a Bible or Koran. It is the worst.
Well, the beauty [or dread] is in the eye of beholder. I would most emphatically NOT call the sensory deprivation “the worst”. Why, there are even yoga exercises to get yourself to a point when your subjective 15 minutes time will be something like 4-5 hours for the outside observer.
...most individuals are kept for at least 23 hours each day in solitary confinement. They are housed in a 7-by-12 ft (3.5-by-2 m) room, built behind a steel door and grate. The remaining free hour is spent exercising alone in a separate concrete chamber. Prisoners rarely see each other, and the inmates' only direct human interaction is with correctional officers. Visiting from outside the prison is conducted through glass, with each prisoner in a separate chamber. Religious services are broadcast from a small chapel.
I recently toured "special section." This is exactly what it is like.
I’ll bet it’s more for his own safety.
I think this is really stupid. Why waste the space with a two bit terrorist wannabe? Don’t we have real threats that need SuperMax. Just stupid!
The rest of us think its a good use of our tax dollars.
lol.
Maybe if they ask again they can send him to Gitmo?
His mother must be very proud about now...
He was insane to become a Moo, travel to mooville and do the “duh” moment. “uh, the US is attacking my moo encampment, uh, uh, Oh, hey mr soldier, I’m an American”
The stupid kid was just so far out of his league. No, I don’t have sympathy, but frankly, he’s just stupid. I mean, only an idiot by definition converts to Islam anyway.
Supermax will preserve his life and completely rot his brain. I think they would be better served to just shut him off. 23 hours of isolation is certain insanity.
That’s real puzzling why some two bit, non-threat, is wasting space in our most secure prison. Can you explain that? It’s STUPID!
This loser could be housed in some county jail.
As it should be.
He was moved for security reasons - it didn’t say whose security, though. I suspect it was probably that of the US. I bet he was still trying to communicate with his AQ buds. But he’s not going to be talking to anybody when he’s locked up in Colorado.
They are going to punish the treasonous POS before he can be pardoned by "President Pelosi."
I suspect that there is a serious California fund raising initiative by California Walker Supporting Democrats, money for the DNC. If there is a Dem Pres in 2008, the pardon of Walker will then be a done deal. I suspect he might croak in prison now.
Clinton established the examples of cash for pardon, and no one stopped him ( Rich, donation to the Clinton "Library" of reconstruction).

Hi C7, nice to hear from you. I never thought of this but I would not doubt it for a second with these perfidious Rats.
Regards.
