Steve Forbes: Right Man for Our Times (Rudy Giuliani)
Forbes ^ | April 23, 2007 | Steve Forbes

Posted on 04/17/2007 6:25:48 PM PDT by FairOpinion

Rudy Giuliani would make a superb president. he combines Reaganesque vision with extraordinary attention to detail. He is strong on national security and also has the principles and policies to strengthen the economy. He is a tax cutter and a foe of the federal income tax's complexity.

He is a fervent free trader, much needed, as global protectionist pressures are rising. He has also demonstrated an antipathy toward unnecessary regulation. If Sarbanes-Oxley hasn't been amended by the time Giuliani takes office, he will push hard to remove its counterproductive elements.

While I disagree with him in certain areas--I am pro-life, and he is pro-choice--he has made it abundantly clear that he would appoint John Roberts/Samuel Alito-type judges to the federal bench.

Giuliani cut or eliminated 23 taxes. The top rate for the city income tax, for instance, was knocked down by 21%. The overall tax burden for a New York City resident went down a remarkable 17%.

During Giuliani's tenure the Big Apple's economy blossomed: 423,000 new jobs were created. More people were moving into the city than leaving it. That he achieved so much going against a generations-old spend-tax-welfare political ethos is astonishing.

Even if you can't bother to put the right title on the columns, it's easy enough to type in "The Right Man for our times" in the search function and find that this exact story was posted 4 days ago.

Don't you rudy people have some secret site where you figure out who is supposed to post what?

The Right Man for our Times

Human Events called it the most effective display of fiscal conservatism in U.S. municipal economics in history.

Repeating it doesn't make it true Steve.

Giuliani's idea of a strict constructionist: Someone who could come down as being for or against Roe v. Wade.

Sure thing Steve, we believe ya. By the way, how's Rudy with that flat tax of yours?

I should note that the actual title of the piece is simply “Right man for our times”, which was a clever way by Steve Forbes to insinuate that Rudy was “right-wing”, not “left-wing”.

But the first pro-rudy poster wasn’t wise enough just use the name Forbes made for his editorial, and renamed it “The right man for our times”.

Which was better than FairOpinion here who re-wrote the title so it looks like Rudy Giuliani wrote the piece and that Steve Forbes is actually the “right man for our times”

Actually, Steve Forbes would be a much better choice for President than Rudy Giuliani.

Oh, and it was a nice try leaving off the actual link in the “link” section in the vain hopes that nobody would notice you were simply reposting the same article with a slightly different title.

I might not be any good at writing, but I have a fantastic memory for what I’ve already read. :-)

That would be pretty funny, if we all just filled up the next 50 posts here with links to all the comments we made in the other thread.

I guess I’m looking for a laugh after the events of the past two days.

No, I really think the best link to use would be this one:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1816835/posts

It not only has the article and a link to the article, it comes with it's own pre-packaged comments section complete with spam and postings of unrelated articles.

We could save our selves a good two hours that way.

Yes, but your “Don’t cast your pearls before swine” comment came in response to areafiftyone sending a ping to all the pro-rudy people.

Which really confused me. Were you saying that a ping to pro-rudy people was a pearl being cast to swine? Or were you saying the pro-rudy peoplle were pearls and this article about Forbes was “swine”?

It was all so confusing.

You need grammar lessons. Quite frequently the author of an article is put first, with a colon to the title. And it’s also accepted in posting, to put anything one adds, that is not in the actual title in paranthesis.

You are really grasping at straws, aren’t you, since you have nothing substantive to add.

I see you are anxious to do Hillary’s dirty work for her:

Rush Limbaugh: It’s All About the Clintons and ‘08 (80% chance HRC pres)

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1818569/posts

Rush: “But we’re gearing up for this election, and if you don’t think that in the Drive-By Media and the Democrat Party, if you don’t think 2008 is all about the Clintons getting back in the White House, you’ve got another thing coming. I’m going to tell you as we sit here today, there is an 80% chance that Hillary Clinton will be the next president of the United States, if you look at the way things are falling out right now. They’re trying to take out Rudy Giuliani.

Whatever it is, they’re doing everything they can to take Rudy out.

But I’m telling you, I know the Clinton machine.”
