A DAY IN THE LIFE OF PRESIDENT BUSH (PHOTOS) 4-18-07

Welcome to Sanity Island, where only adults are allowed.

This morning, President Bush Visited the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. He was accompanied by some members of his administration including Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice.

On hand to welcome him were museum director, Sara Bloomfield and Elie Wiesel, about whom President Bush said, "I thank very much Elie Wiesel for joining us. He is a -- he's a big figure in the life of the world, as he should be. He speaks with moral clarity. And I can't thank you enough for being a leader of talking about what is right. And I'm honored to be in your presence."

The full text of President Bush's remarks can be read here.

President Bush speaking at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, Wednesday, April 18, 2007.

After lunch, President Bush Met with Bipartisan and Bicameral Congressional Leadership in the Cabinet Room. Prior to the meeting he said, "We're going to have a very good discussion. People have strong opinions around the table, and I'm looking forward to listening to them. I've got my own opinion, which I'm more than willing to share. The whole objective is to figure out how best to get our troops funded, get the money they need to do the job that I've asked them to do."

Quote of the Day

I am pleased that the Supreme Court upheld a law that prohibits the abhorrent procedure of partial-birth abortion. Today's decision affirms that the Constitution does not stand in the way of the people's representatives enacting laws reflecting the compassion and humanity of America. The partial-birth abortion ban, which an overwhelming bipartisan majority in Congress passed and I signed into law, represents a commitment to building a culture of life in America.

The Supreme Court's decision is an affirmation of the progress we have made over the past six years in protecting human dignity and upholding the sanctity of life. We will continue to work for the day when every child is welcomed in life and protected in law.

Speaking on the issue of Darfur, the President told his audience, "Thanks to the efforts of people in this room, the world knows and the world sees. ... Now the world must act."

I despise her. I was so pleased to see the sour looks on her face and these photos were all taken BEFORE their meeting. I’ll keep checking for postmortem, er, I mean, photos after their meeting.

I’m very happy about that as well. Definitely the bright spot in a bad week.

I am so sorry that we've lost Kay, but I am also glad that she is free of the horrenous pain she has been going through and is now resting in the arms of Our Lord.

May she always remember that she was loved.

She sure went fast. I was looking back at her forum posts and two notes from her to me -— just wow — but like you said, she’s pain free now and singing with the angles.

Thanks for the post, onyx. Most especially, thank you for the tribute to kayak.

Several years ago when my husband and I were going through hard times her private encouragement was one of the things that kept me going. I am sure going to miss her, but I know she has gone to meet Jesus.

Thank you for sharing that, Miss Marple. Kay’s the one who put me on the ATRW ping list after getting to know her here. I still don’t have the html that she wanted me to “steal” in order to keep her military prayer list posted. I’m going to go try to swipe it again. I had it one night, but when I sent it to myself in FR mail -— it didn’t “take.”

I guess and I am sure glad to have your company..lol. I have gotten better at hitting “spell check” before posting, but that’s only helpful if misspell a word entirely. ANGEL is the word I meant to type, but “angle” is a correctly spelled word, so I went ahead and hit post. LOL!
