That’s a real man. He looks so much like my own dad.

While I have never seen a John Wayne movie that I didn't like, some of my favorites are never, or infrequently shown on TV.
The Shadow of the Eagle - a saturday matinee serial
3 Godfathers
The Wings of Eagles
Reunion in France
Hurricane Express
The Sea Chase
Without Reservation
The Long Voyage Home

I lived 1/2 mile from Pacific View Memorial Park, on more than one occasion my friends and I tried to find Mr.Wayne, never did though. May God Bless The Duke and the former Balboa Bay Club.

Not only the Duke, but I think even the guys of the Rat Pack (or at the very least the Rat Pack era) would probably be....well, “put off” by today’s Hollywood.

Still; I would gladly pay to watch Charlie Chaplain kick Tom Cruise’s butt! Or maybe one of those midgets from the original Wizard of Oz.

I also live here in Newport and as a child lived across the channel from his Bayshores house. 20 years after he passed they finally marked the grave.
The inscription reads, "Tommorow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learnt something from yesterday."

John Wayne was an actor.
He wasn't a real person. The real person was named Marion Morrison.
