Greetings From the FRONT LINE !! - (Part II) By: David C. Osborne

First, I want to thank everyone who sent me kind words of support in response to my OPEN letter dated 16 April 2007 – click here to read.
Second, a lot of things are going on that from my perspective raise more questions of uncertainty rather than point to a guarantee of mission “success” as defined individually by the American People. It seems that every person you ask to define “success” in Iraq provides a different answer. Some, have even suggested that even ifWHEN we leave here, IF Iraqi Security Forces step up to plate and provide a reasonable level of stability/security in Iraq, that we still “FAILED” because it wasn’t accomplished “quicker” or “we lost too many soldiers”, or whatever.
Third, it seems to me that far too many American Citizens and members of congress have already declared Iraq a “FAILURE” no matter what happens. This is by far the most troubling fact of all, and the most offensive characterization of MY service that I have ever heard. I think it is possible, but unlikely that if we leave "TOO SOON" that Iraqi Security Forces will be able to provide adequate security and stability to this country without our help. The insurgents will view our departure as THEIR victory, and the American People will have sent ME home with disgrace and dishonor, no matter how many “We Support You – But Hate the President” signs you may hold up.
The President is MY Commander in Chief when you insult him in his capacity as Commander in Chief you insult ME! You may disagree with his policies and/or political agenda, but when you insult him in his capacity as Commander in Chief in this time of War, you insult every service member that works every day to provide our leaders with the best advice and the best fighting force that we can provide.
PLEASE let me do MY JOB ! May God Bless the FAMILIES of every service member who has given his/her LIFE in this just and worthy cause. I believe with all my heart that I am fighting the enemies of FREEDOM here in Baghdad so that I will not have to fight them at home! Thank you for taking the time to read this, please pass it on to anyone that think might need to/want hear one soldiers opinion from the Front Line – May God Bless the United States of America..

It is late as I arrived home a bit ago from my weekly visit at Walter Reed. I wanted you to know that our wounded warriors are in good spirits, support their Commander-in-Chief, the mission and their brothers still in the sand box.
The vast majority of the American people also support the mission and those who are conducting it. Do not believe the Enemedia!!!
