I know some Liberals who (completely seriously) say that the First Amendment declares "Separation of Church and State" (it doesn't) and that what this really means is that church-going people are supposed to be banned from politics. If an avowed Christian holds an elective office (or is appointed to SCOTUS) then we are just a Theocracy like Iran.
