On Thursday, Reid angered the administration and congressional Republicans when he said that the war in Iraq is “lost.”

I stopped taking Tom Delay seriously when he remarked ‘there is nothing left to cut’ from a federal budget that featured over 30,000 earmarks.

I lost all respect for him the day I heard him say it.

DeLay was also the guy who strong-armed pubblies in the House to narrowly back the prescription drug bill, the biggest expansion of the welfare state since LBJ.

If you think that what Delay said then is treasonous, you are an idiot of the highest sort.

Thank you sir for taking the high road. It is rare that I read such a well-crafted thoughtful, nuanced, and fact-based response. BTW, I don't think that either DeLay or Reed were guilty of treason.

Amen!

I heard him on a radio show some time back and he was taken to task by a caller. He had a glib answer for everything the caller brought up. He was on the show to push his book damning Republicans like Newt Gingrich and to hear him tell it he was the knight in shinning armor while the rest were slime and bottom feeders.

He had his chance and he blew it, along with all the rest of them. They misread what it was we expected of them and they took the path of least resistance. Now they, and we, are paying for it and we will go on paying for it until we grow the gonads necessary to stand up for our country and our way of life!

Since I did not defend DeLay, I was puzzled as to why you posted your response.

I find the comments of the Senate Majority Leader to be treasonous.

Your response to me and to others on this thread, however, shows that you truly are well armed. You truly know the facts on the issue. You truly read Daily Kos.... or at least you read this thread: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/6/18/161016/461

Hey Tom, is like being ‘almost pregnant?’ You either are or you aren’t.

Its spelled Reid, not Reed.

I don’t tolerate parrot-head talking points well.

Reid is guilty, Delay is not. Trying to compare the two is idiotic. Hence my response.

“Close to treason!” They passed that marker some time in 2004...

Al (if I may):

Brilliant! I never have seen such a devastating fact-based retort. I also appreciate your willingness to steer clear of personal attacks. I know a teacher of rhetoric who might want to hire to give advice to his students in the arts of logical persuasion and avoidence of immature personal attacks. I'll make sure to recommend you to him. Have you ever thought of conducting seminars on argumentative techniques and logic? You really should!

All the Best,

AWW

I long ago grew tired of discussion with the likes of you. Anything I may say would bounce off.

I could point out that the Buffoon in Chief Clinton and his trusty side kick Mady Alldull really DID lie about Serbia and really DID rush to war and did nothing more than throw bombs (from a safe distance) on a group of people for no reason.

Its been found that the so called massacre at Srebrenica was a sham and the Buffoon bought it because it served his political purpose at the time.

You scrounging up quotes from people who had a hard time with that, and trying to compare them with the utterly seditious, treasonous venom from your buds the ratz, is quite idiotic.

Now, you know why I simply dismiss you out of hand.

No more comments needed, you aren’t worth the time or effort.

Hey Tom..... “No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any state, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any state legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any state, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or GIVEN AID OR COMFORT TO THE ENEMY thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.” — United States Constitution, 14th Amendment, Section 3 I think they already crossed that line MONTHS ago.

I guess this means that they are covered.

I agree. Way over the top. I know I'm not alone when I say I've been watching Pelosi's travels, aghast, thinking that very thing.

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi "are getting very, very close to treason," DeLay said in a meeting with the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

I wonder if the Post Gazette or the local news will pick up the story? Not holding my breath. I wonder how many Pittsburghers will actually get to hear DeLay's remarks? (I know - many won't care.) Maybe just comments condemning his remarks? I don't know if I can stand to tune in and see...

Finally, someone has spoken the “T” word. Well done, Mr. DeLay, now gather the rest of the Republicans and do something about it NOW!

I wonder if Tom will run for any seat when 2008 arrives? My bet is he would retake a seat in the House. If he wants it.
