PBS at least airs some great stuff on Western Culture. Great Performances, Ken Burns docs.
I love the “Heroes” and I still watch “Law & Order” - mostly to see Fred.
News - forget about it. Even their HD eye-candy does not help the crappy and biased reporting.
My Name is Earl is the only thing I watched on NBC. NBC lost me as a viewer though after I moved to Colorado. I can't get them over-the-air because of the mountains and they won't give me a waiver to watch them on the DirecTV satellite.
No big loss though. I buy the show on DVD anyway.
“Friday Night Lights” is a good show and one I hope they bring back next year. “American Dream” was another good program that they cancelled. Now all we watch on NBC is two of the L&O’s, FNL’s and Leno.
I think NBC was a network within the Big Media Industry back in the 2oth century.
I agree. Especially since they get most of their news a day late or more. Then they keep repeating stuff. The only “newsys” they report is the human interest garbage. The bees..the fat “epidemic”...the survivor...the pet story...ad nauseum

The only time I watch network news is when the GOP wins and election cycle. Its fun watching them try to hide their collective disappointment.
“Call me a heretic, but I much prefer the US version. But I have a feeling it may go downhill shortly.”
I love “The Office” but I’m waiting for the shoe to drop; the left shoe, that is. There will be an episode where it will be revealed that Michael Scott is a conservative Republican. You can bet $$$ on it. You know that Dwight Schroot is.
NBC has a few really good shows.
Monday - Heroes
Tuesday - Law and Order SVU
Friday - Law and Order.
My Name is Earl is pretty good. I really don’t like The Office. I just don’t find it entertaining at all. Of course, with DVR I don’t watch any of these shows live.
Bring back Kukla,Fran & Ollie.

Either Donnellys was a six episode test run (networks do that a lot, buy six and see what happens, either way the show will go away after the six but if the numbers are good it will come back later) or the numbers were bad. I watched about 10 minutes of the first episode but found it way too much of a ripoff of Goodfellas and stopped.
As for NBCs other troubles, Heroes is back and won the 18-49 market again so I don’t think they’re really in as much trouble as people think.
The only good thing to hit television in the last couple ‘O years was ROME on HBO. Like anything else of quality, it was canceled. Turnabouts fair play though...I’m canceling HBO.
Love the office too. I am at a loss as why the networks can’t figure out what is going on. 15% of viewers now have dvr technology, so why anybody would advertise on a show is beyond me. The only network shows I watch are those I DVR, so I do not see any commercials. The only network commercials I ever see are those on live sporting events, and even then I usually switch to Fox or the weather channle during commercials.
Can't tell you how good life is without tv!
I chucked my family’s last TV back in the ‘80s. I missed it off and on for several weeks. My wife and kids took a little longer. Two of the four have sets in their homes but they are rarely on. The wife refused a state-of-the-art set that was sort of a legacy. I admit now to an internet, primarily FR, habit that consumes a lot of my time but it is much easier to just get up and go do something else than it ever was in the TV days.
I beat you by about 11 years. Mine went into the alley with a shattered CRT so that the kids wouldn’t be tempted to drag it back into the house. The trash truck took it away a few days later. The wife and 4 kids got over it pretty fast.
NBC: We had Seinfeld.
(and that is the only good show that has ever aired on our network....)
