"Giuliani explained that he opposed the partial-birth abortion ban in the 1990s and supported President Clinton's two vetoes of it because he didn't think the life of the mother exception was strong enough."

Politician looking for a loop-hole! As weak as his backbone is, put him in the office of President and the terrorists will have him squirming and wriggling, and country on its knees.

It reminded me of a line from the Holy Grail, which I best leave unsaid.

“I think you can be personally opposed to it. . . .”

Sounds remarkably like John Kerry's position.

“Personally opposed, but. . . “ was invented by Mario Cuomo in a speech given at Notre Dame (!) in 1984. He may have drawn on JFK’s famous promise to the Baptist ministers that he would not let his Catholicism influence his decisions in office.

Since Cuomo’s speech, every Democrat politician in existence has borrowed the phrase. Kerry was too dumb to think it up, but was happy to use it.
