What Was the Most Stupid Remark Made in Tonight's Dem Debate? (Vanity)

O.K. Freepers; I know most of you watched the 'Rats one and a half hour debate tonight. What do you think was the most stupid remark any of them made? I'll start it off.

I thought Sen. Dodd's statement opposing drug testing for welfare recipients was utterly stupid. He said that drug addiction was an illness and a person should not have to give up their welfare because they are ill.

Gag me with a book of food stamps!

I have no problem giving people welfare if they really NEED it, but I have known WAY too many welfare recipients who are on welfare for generations. They don’t work, their kids don’t work, their grandkids don’t work—all on the dole. Changes need to be made or more supervision.

Welfare is a public service put in place to help people according to their needs, NOT personal abilities or qualifications to perform in some capicity as an employer has the right to require.

And for many, quite a few actually, their need is for you and me to pay their basic needs, so the money they have can be spent getting lit.

If they're in that dire need for assistance, fine, but they can do it without us subsidizing their drug habits that probably helped put them in that position to begin with.

I see nothing wrong with asking for them for a test. Ask any military person whether or not they have to take a wiz quiz. They're on the government payroll, and technically, so are welfare recipients, whose "job", while getting assistance, is to get back on their own two feet.

Obama also blew it big time when asked what he would do if he was POTUS and two American cities were attacked simultaneously by Al Queda. He rambled and mumbled.

Even The MSNBC left-wing talking heads said he blew it on that one.

I don’t think the kid is ready for Prime Time.

Entitlement programs to help the needy are based on neediness.

So, based on your warped view, the drug user is entitled to tax payer money because he needs it to subsidize his habit, right? It is just tax payers money, what the hell, no big deal right?

Entitlement my foot, nobody is entitled to anything, period. One is entitled to get off his fat ass and do something for a change, instead to wait for hand outs (exception made for truly needy ones).

Homelessness and street ministry is different from the mainstream American folk who get welfare. I did a weekend in NYC at a couple of places that minister to the homeless and it was a real eye opener. I loved it and would go back again if I could.

Sen. Gravel’s zinger got play on local TV tonight: “When you run for Senate and win you wonder how you got there, and after six months you wonder how everybody else got there - and when I look at most of those (other candidates) here tonight, I wonder how they got here” - if only ‘pubs would be so aggressive toward the ‘rats once in awhile......

Yo, I need help.

I will private mail you my PayPal account. I trust you will fund my food and shelter requirments ASAP, with no questions asked.

If you don’t send me the money, I will have you thrown in jail.

Silly, you say? This is EXACTLY what you seem to think is compassion and fairness. The last sentence is the problem. If you want to send me the money, that is your business. If you have to do so under threat of impisonment, that is everybody’s business.

While not made during the Dem’s debates; I must say that the most stupid remark, boner actually, was made by Tim Russert on the NBC evening news. Russert was being interviewed by Williams about some new WSJ polls, and said (paraphrasing) that the single most problem causing Bush’s negative’s in the polls was - he spelled it out “IRAK”... After a moments pause to reflect he corrected himself. But being someone who has had a lot of fun with Bush’s mispronouncements, I that it was nice to see Russert get his...

Dude! I AM NEEDY! Fund my PayPal Account NOW! I NEED $5,000 ASAP. Hand over the money ASAP, or you are going to jail.

If you object to my demands, you just enjoy starving old people or needy people and wish ill on all those less fortunate than you, you uncompassionate, heartless, uncivilized bastard.

I'm waiting for my money. Hand it over now, or you will go down as a total hypocrite.

The one I saw last night was buying Lottery tickets with it.

I was one of the ones that had to be there due to the job and every one of them (communists/democrats candidates) were so comical.

Having to listen and watch the PMSnbc debate and then a local public tv program that paraded these losers afterwards was rough on the eyes and ears. It was a freak show.

When people need food and or shelter we should provide it, and become holy rollers judging of who is or isn't good enough morally to receive help.

Dumb post of the day award from me...

Are you saying there would be no secular donation spots... or are you saying that Church's must donate to those that might spit towards them. BTW.. most churches have been taken so many times that they have wised up to the point of giving ONLY gift certificates for food or only helping people by personally going with them to purchase items.

BTW... for the record... RELIGIOUS Conservative do out give liberals by leaps and bounds...

Conservative outgive liberals link

If still not convinced... here is a liberal source.. with same results

USA TODAY: Bible Belt Residents Most Charitable:

Are you telling us that Christians only give to churches? Are you just spewing hatred without facts... I will take the later as my guess...

36. Pennsylvania $45,367; $3,270; (41).

Your state as recognized by you FR page ranks pretty low among givers for some reason. Perhaps you should recognize that the more religious the people, the more they give.

I also help the needy but I don’t give alcohol to alcoholics or drugs to druggies or the money to buy it with. Back in my younger days we used to call crybaby liberals like you, “little old ladies in tennis shoes”. Also known as “do-gooders”, look at me, I have a heart. Fifty percent of all those people you are worried about are perfectly capable of holding a job and wouldn’t take one if you offered it to them. It’s you money, throw it away.

WILLIAMS: Senator Obama, you go first. You've promised in your campaign a new kind of politics, but just this week the Chicago Sun-Times reported on questionable ties you have with a donor who was charged last year for demanding kickbacks on Illinois business deals. Aren't you practicing the very same kind of politics that many of the others on this stage have engaged in?

OBAMA: Well, not all, we have thousands of donors. This donor engaged in some ethical behavior and I have denounced it.

ME: Priceless!

I can't believe the extremist kooky arguments you people are resorting to. This is laughable.

YOU are the poster who speculated that conservatives want to put old people out on the ice floes, or whatever. Talk about your extremist kooky arguments.

You take a simple drug test requirement for welfare and turn it into starved bodies on the sidewalks.

And what's with the "You people" business? We're all FReepers here, but I believe you are a troll. Back to DU with you, Richard.
