A Shia commander in Iraq has claimed that the Mahdi army has people inside British bases who will leak information about Prince Harry's arrival in the country."One of our aims is to capture Harry, we have people inside the British bases to inform us on when he will arrive," Abu Mujtaba, a commander in the Mahdi army, the Shia militia loyal to radical cleric Moqtada al-Sadr, told the Guardian.
He added: "Not only us, the Mahdi army, that will try to capture him, but every person who hates the British and the Americans will try to get him, all the mujahideens in Iraq, the al Qaida, the Iranians all will try to get him."
His comments will provoke further debate about whether the Prince should be sent to Iraq, for his own safety and that of his comrades.
After one of the bloodiest months so far for British troops in Iraq, speculation has continued about whether Prince Harry's arrival there would increase the risk of attacks on his colleagues in the Blues and Royals.
His planned deployment next month comes after the death of 11 servicemen, including two on April 19 who were doing the same job the royal officer was expected to take up on his six-month tour.
Friends of the 22-year-old Prince told the BBC he would be "very disappointed" if he was not allowed to go but would stay with the Army.
He has told people he is not afraid to die but is anxious about the risk to his comrades, friends told the Daily Mail.
The Prince's heart has always been set on being a long-term career soldier but he could find himself having to reassess his position within the Army if he is prevented from going to Iraq or confined to a less risky desk job in the region.
The Duke of York, the last royal to be sent to a conflict zone and, like Harry, born the spare to the heir, said in a documentary in 1991: "Had I not gone to the Falklands my position within the Navy would have been untenable."
I’m no military expert, but why are we still letting morons like this Al-Sadr guy run around Iraq with his pissant army? Just kill the jerk and be done with him.
Should have killed Al-Sadr a long time ago.
Their expressing a desire to capture and, probably, behead a British Royal is reason-enough.
If the barbarians actually capture Harry and kill him, the response from the Brits would not be pleasant, to say the least. Yes, the Brits sometimes have a problem with linguini spines ... but they have also proven, historically, that when they’re pushed too far they can bite back in a way that cuts to the bone. I wouldn’t want to be on the receiving in of British ire.
Why don’t we send Jon Francois Carry, Reid, Murfa,Pelosi, Al Franken, Michael Moore and Rosie (oh sorry, no fat pigs allowed) or Hitlery, etc. in Harry’s place?
There would be no effort made to kidnap any of them as they are all comrades.
You’re right, sorry I didn’t think of that.
Send a small militia of Americans over there, and things will clean up very nicely.
I think Prince Harry is going to be a huge force of leadership in this world, it is written all over him IMO.
“Prince Harry Vows to Kill Islamist Bastards”
(Alternate Headline)
lol, sweet
Which is precisely their objective.
If they really intended to kidnap Prince Harry, they wouldn't be blabbing about it and wouldn't be revealing that they have moles in the British bases.
I submit that there is a "small" militia (if you will) over there right now. Its called the US Military, the finest armed forces in the world. If someone were to let them take the G.D. gloves off, things would clean up very nicely. Time to quit building schools, holding Maliki's hands, handing out candy. Time to start killing those s.o.b.'s starting with Sadr trash. The only reason they're not is they're so damned paralyzed in their actions out of fear of offending Murfa, Piglosi and noted limp wrists Reid, Levin and Byrd.
