The usual gridlock for this area is gonna be really bad for some time to come.

Most people don't like gridlock. But my Momma loves me.

At least she says she does...

Let's start a pool.

How much should it cost?
$1-5 million, depending on whether they use the existing columns or start from scratch...

How much will it cost?
We're talking Caltrans here - $20 million sounds about right.

“How much will it cost?”

Caltrans sez - they must test the 2 adjoining structures first - may have to replace more than the single overpass section. “It’s going to be more than a month.”

I went by and joined the other rubberneckers for a look-see - woah! the pictures don’t do it justice. Looks like a JDAM strike took it out.

Oaklands Finest has a perimeter set up sealing off the area - no small task.

The good news - Caltrans is already at work.

Bah! Too late. Halliburton has already been to all the local news outlets and removed the video of George Bush, Dick Cheney and Condolezza Rice personally setting the cutter charges. VRWC strikes again!

Yup...those kinds of things look far worse in real life than they are on TV. I remember the Pentagon after 9/11...you thought it looked bad on TV until you saw it live...it was WAY worse in real life. It’s hard to appreciate the scale of the destruction from a TV image.

On the subject of fire and steel, you don’t have to actually melt the steel to cause a collapse. In a hot fire such as this one, steel can lose something like 90% of its yield strength. It’s still technically a solid, but it becomes very weak, almost like putty, and collapses. This is what happened in the WTC.

Oh, yeah...I almost forgot to add...IT’S ALL BUSH’S FAULT!!!

“Who would want fat Rosie`s email, and anyone know if the driver was a Mexican?”

From the article:

The driver, James Mosqueda, 51, of Woodland, was headed from a refinery in Benecia to a gas station near the Oakland Airport when the accident occurred, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Mosqueda? Yeah, he’s a Mexican...but the MSM will only see the “Mosque” part and cry ROP! BTW, what was that about allowing Mexican truckers to drive freely in the US???

The scary thing is, years ago I postulated this kind of thing being used as a “cheap and dirty” terrorist attack aimed as crippling our transportation infrastructure. Imagine 20 or 30 tanker trucks blown up all at the same time at key interchanges thorughout the United States. Chaos.

The trucking company name is Sabek Transportation. They may be held reliable for clean up costs. They were also involved in another truck/fuel accident. The driver worked for this trucking company for 10 months.

Mosquada’s room mate said they were hoping to start their own trucking business together. I don’t think Mosquada is game anymore. At least I hope he doesn’t get behind a wheel of a truck again.
