Democrats support Watada, caucuses (WA moonbats)

BELLINGHAM – Leaders of the state Democratic Party voted overwhelmingly Saturday to support Lt. Ehren Watada, the Fort Lewis officer who refused orders to serve in Iraq. The party’s central committee also decided to continue the Democrats’ tradition of ignoring results of the state’s presidential primary election. That means Washington Democrats will instead use caucuses next year to decide who the state supports in the race among Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Edwards and others for the party’s nomination for president.

The decision to disregard the 2008 presidential primary came on a 119-142 vote at the state party central committee meeting in Bellingham. The resolution supporting Watada passed easily, although it was by show of hands so there wasn’t an exact vote count.

“We support and commend Lt. Ehren Watada for his courage, moral leadership, and commitment to duty demonstrated by his act of resistance to the continued costly, destructive and immoral U.S. military occupation of Iraq,” the resolution said.

Mike Carnahan, a Democratic Central Committee member from Clark County, spoke against the Watada resolution. It’s an all-volunteer military, he said. “I find it offensive as, a veteran, to have him doing what he’s doing,” Carnahan said.

But other veterans on the committee said that, particularly as an officer, Watada shouldn’t just blindly follow.

“To say he’s required to follow all orders would be to negate the Nuremberg trials,” said Mike Mosbarger, a Mason County Democrat.

Those were the war crimes trials of Nazis after World War II, some of whom offered the unsuccessful defense that they were just following orders.

State Democratic Party Chairman Dwight Pelz said in an interview that officers at Abu Ghraib prison or Guantanamo Bay might have done well to take an action such as Watada.

Words fail me. The state dems (moonbats) actually support Watada, disgusting.

Our system of laws is failing faster than patriotism.

Typical dem support of the lawbreaker. Not as dangerous as the typical dem support of terrorists, but just as disgusting.

This nut actually equates what the nazis did to America’s liberation of Iraq. What a loon. Thank God I don’t live anywhere close to these moonbats.

This should come as a surprise to no one. This is the Democrat Party of the United States and it will get worse.

They vote to surrender the United States to a bunch of half-baked terrorists.

They call members of the U.S. Military Nazis.

They vote to remove Junior ROTC from public high schools despite overwhelming public support for the program.

They release to the press classified documents that put our soldiers in imminent danger in order to further their political cause.

They provide aid and comfort to our enemies.

What is surprising to me is that so many people who would never consider doing anything of the sort described above blindly support and vote for these bozos.

Correct on all points and it seems the interest even here at FR is lacking, there’s been only 77 views to this thread as of now.

I hate to suggest you spend yet more money on books, jaz. But Orson Scott Card’s EMPIRE is worth checking out sometime! It’s about an American civil war, in the not too distant future. New York City is the first to declare independence, but Washington state is the power base of the rebellion. Sadly, you and I both live surrounded by evidence that it’s not far-out as fiction.

It looks like it’s worth reading.

The party’s central committee also decided to continue the Democrats’ tradition of ignoring results of the state’s presidential primary election.

Then why do they bother with the election at all? Why not save the taxpayers a bunch of money and just dump it?

Just ordered that book off Amazon.

I encourage everyone to go look at the customer reviews of this book. Talk about a political divide!

I don’t even try to understand the moonbat party of this state, I don’t think they understand themselves.

I’m with you. Just when I think that there is nothing that the moonbats can do to amaze and disgust me, they do it. For over a year they have been equating our soldiers with terrorists at the Friday night protest. Now they equate them with Nazis! Disgusting is putting it mildly. Anyone have a number for these collaborators?

Card set the bar pretty high for himself with ENDER’S GAME, and EMPIRE isn’t as rich as his best book. But I still thought EMPIRE was vastly entertaining and thought provoking.

Not only do they disrespect the military, but every voter in Washington state. Why bother to vote if you are a Democrat? The Central Committee will tell you what is best. Sounds like Communism to me.

Agree. Watada should already be at Leavenworth bagging groceries at the commissary, cutting the Fort’s lawns, cutting fire wood and delivering it to family quarters, repairing wooden government issue furniture, etc.....

Well, the court-martial is in July.

Here, there’s no reason to vote if you’re a Republican, most of these same state congressmen “selected” Gregoire for our governor.

They don’t do any of that anymore. Since they built the new super max DB at the old DB farm, they just lock them up until their final military appeal is complete. Then they put them in a white van and drive them over to the U.S. Penetentary where they get to meet Bubba and serve the rest of their sentence in the Federal system.
