Disarm America? Here's how [liberal wants Nazi type search of every household in the U.S.]
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette ^ | April 29, 2007 | Dan Simpson

Posted on 04/29/2007 7:22:34 PM PDT by grundle

When people talk about doing something about guns in America, one of the points that comes to the fore is, "How could America disarm even if it wanted to? There are so many guns out there." Today I want to address the question of "how" -- if we decided to. Since I have little or no power to influence the "if" part of the issue, I will stick with "how."

Now, how would one disarm the American population? First of all, federal or state laws would need to make it a crime punishable by a $1,000 fine and one year in prison per weapon to possess a firearm. The population would then be given three months to turn in their guns, without penalty.

The disarmament process would begin after the initial three-month amnesty. Special squads of police would be formed and trained to carry out the work. Then, on a random basis to permit no advance warning, city blocks and stretches of suburban and rural areas would be cordoned off and searches carried out in every business, dwelling and empty building. Thoroughness would be at the level of the sort of search that is carried out in Crime Scene Investigations. All firearms would be seized. The owners of weapons found in the searches would be prosecuted: $1,000 and one year in prison for each firearm.

Clearly, since such sweeps could not take place all across a city, county, state or the country at the same time, guns would move. But fairly quickly there would begin to be gun-swept, gun-free areas where there should be no firearms. If there were, those carrying them would be subject to quick confiscation and prosecution. On the streets it would be a question of stopping and searching anyone, even Grandma with her walker.

I’m astounded - in the mainstream media they’re calling for the destruction of the Constitution and Gestapo tactics.

Get ready for a bumpy ride after 2008.

We’re trying this in Iraq.

Maybe we should put up walls around the neighborhoods first?

Or better yet, maybe the libs should declare defeat and leave!

Thoroughness would be at the level of the sort of search that is carried out in Crime Scene Investigations.

Or in the Third Reich. Except in America any such attempted gun-grab would result in the deaths of the would-be grabbers. ....and they'd surrender quickly.

On the streets it would be a question of stopping and searching anyone, even Grandma with her walker, with the same penalties for "carrying."

Now here's a job for the TSA.

Special squads of police would be formed and trained to carry out the work.

I don't think this guy realizes just how few police there actually are. Squads? He'd need armies for this kind of scenario.

Isn’t it breathtaking how the left, hypersensitive to the “rights” of those sworn to kill us all, have no problem whatever abolishing constitutional amendments, the bill of rights, protections against unwarranted search and seizure and even the right to privacy of “grandma in her walker”, in order to render us utterly defenseless while “bending” us to their will.

Seems this moron had no objection to guns when looking out for his own sorry a$$.

Time.

Good post. People like Dan Simpson are dangerous.

When the Liberals take everyone's guns they will force their agenda down the throats of the American Public. These people scare the crap out of me. What is happening in this country before our eyes is frightening.

This is a definite wake up call. The Progressives are thinking about how nice it would be to establish an Democratic Socialist American Workers Party. Thats not the same as National Socialism is it?

But first you have to get rid of those pesky 2nd Amendment types. They think its a fitting irony that they can propose like its reasonable the very scenario the NRA has been warning as a hyperbolic worst case nightmare.

This reporter imagines an America were storm troopers cordon and search homes with no cause whatsoever. Yea. Thats the America I grew up loving.

I would say it was so impossible but the US is contemplating surrendering to Al Qaeda and giving the worlds oil resources to them. The Congress has already voted to do this and the Senate Majority leaders has already declared Al Qaeda the winners. The same people who attacked the United States and killed more Americans than the Japanese at Pearl Harbor? You have to be kidding? Right?

I read a lot of this “cold dead hands” talk. Still, like frogs in a slowly boiling pot, we surrender right after right, community after community and principle after principle, to the treasonous left without so much as a stern warning.
