So much for legacy admissions to the Naval Academy, and an aviator, no less, IIRC, he graduated fifth from the bottom of the class.
What we see here is a total failure of the right. No one has the courage to propose anything on offense in the WOT. It's either keep on doing what we're doing, or take two steps backward as with McCain.
Yes, he included climate change in his WOT answer. I think that just about cooked him. Listening to his answer I thought I MUST be hearing things.
Strike One.
I would move those detainees to Fort Leavenworth.
Strike Two.
I would announce we will not torture anyone.
Strike Three. YER OUT!
I would announce that climate change is a big issue...
Oh, just give it a rest, McLame.
I watched some of the interview, and tried to be as objective as possible. I just wanted to listen to what he had to say.
I was surprised at how poor a performance it was, and shocked when the global warming comment was interjected into the GWOT discussion. McCain displayed the liberal tendency of thinking that the most important thing in foreign policy is to have everyone in the world like the USA. He didn’t make a case that global warming was a big problem, but tried to make a case that fighting global warming would make the USA popular, and help us somehow in the GWOT.
I was dumfounded.
NPR ran an interview yesterday with a Guantanamo detainee who’d been released and sent home to Pakistan. Arrested as an enemy combatant, he never said he was innocent and acted contemptuous of the US. Expect to see him back on the front lines sooner rather than later. NPR won’t be happy until Hill is running things.
