The Worst of the Worst

[from "Weathermen" terrorist Bill Ayers]: Ward Churchill is under a sustained, orchestrated, and determined attack because of his political beliefs and statements and activities, and nothing more. No one doubts his productivity or his accomplishments. But the attack on Churchill is neither isolated nor innocent— the high school history teacher on the west side of Chicago gets the message, and so does the English literature teacher in Detroit and the math teacher in an Oakland middle school: be careful what you say; stay close to the official story; stick to the authorized text. If someone of Ward Churchill’s stature and standing for so many years at the University of Colorado can suffer this kind of campaign, what chance do I have?

Every committee, every investigation, every report plays out under a shadow of the star chamber; everyone must choose who to be and how to act in response. For this reason I support Ward Churchill unequivocally, unapologetically, whole-heartedly. I urge my colleagues and my students and everyone who values education as a grand enterprise geared toward enlightenment and liberation to speak out forcefully and fearlessly now on behalf of the liberty of teaching and learning, on behalf of the right to think at all.

LOL!!! Better put away such problems as:

"Two ho's each gave their pimp $200 each, which was 80% of their earnings for the day. How much did the two ho's make combined?"

..”I urge my colleagues and my students and everyone who values education as a grand enterprise geared toward enlightenment”...Translation: Don’t get a higher education to better yourself, get it to bug everyone else with your whackjob radical ideas....

Of course you do! You and he are so much alike: you're two P.O.S. in a pod.

I forgot all about this guy. Man why are we giving him attention? He is an idiot, but out of the picture.

If Ward Churchill farted in class, this idiot would think he uttered the most profound statement known to man!

Did they get this from “The Onion”. It’s hilarious.”Ward Churchill, distinguished scholar; Persecuted for telling the truth.” There has to be a sarcasm tag at the end of it, but I can’t find it.

Don't believe that for a moment. (1) Colorado taxpayers are still paying his bogus, grossly excessive salary, pending final resolution of his case. (2) He will "land on his feet" in one or more other university postions with the help of his leftoid pals, you can be sure of that. (3) He will continue to command ridiculous speaking fees from leftoid groups who worship him ala the nuts quoted at the Frontpagemag.com link. No, sad to say, he's far from out of the picture.

College tuition is without a doubt one of THE biggest wastes of money today, given that these fools and their self-important blatherings are fairly indicative of their attitude and intelligence.

I thank God for the time I spent at Gonzaga. I know it was over 30 years ago, and times have changed. Still, I'm certain that Fr. Bob Spitzer would not allow a charlatan like Churchill on the campus.

Although I majored in accounting, my most memorable class after all these years was a third year philosophy class. The professor, a Jesuit priest, "unlocked the door" regarding the nature of philosophy:

"With philosophy, it's not what you say, it's how you say it, because philosophy is nothing but a bunch of bull s---!"

I don't think I ever worked harder for a B in my life. On Tuesday, we'd get our assignment for Thursday's class, which was a two page, typed book report, on such books as Wittgenstein's Blue and Brown Books.

Thursday's two hour class would entail each of us (14) reading our reports, followed by discussion and comments. That 12 of the 14 students were theology majors, and studying for the priesthood, added to the singularity of the experience.

I agree that 30 years ago (or 20 in my case) college was still a reasonable deal. I went to Rutgers. My favorite classes were in English - Medieval Literature and Arthurian Romance. The latter class was taught by a professor named J.J. Wilhelm (who also wrote the books we used in the class). He was great - made it all very interesting and lively. There was never any notion of anything political in anything - it was all about the literature.

He did frequently take entire weeks off to go on "sabbaticals" to Italy and other places (being a college prof was a very cushy job, even back then), but most of my fondest memories of college were the lectures he gave in that class.
