BAGHDAD: Gunmen stormed the offices of an independent radio station in a predominantly Sunni area in Baghdad on Thursday, killing two employees and wounding five before bombing the building and knocking the station off the air, police said.

It was the third attack in five months against the private Dijlah radio station in the Jami'a neighborhood in western Baghdad.

"Our guards and the staff resisted the attackers for 30 minutes before evacuating the building," Youssef said, adding the attackers then detonated a bomb on the first floor that destroyed all the equipment, including the transmitter.

So, the media completely mis-reports via the headlines once again. The real story: Radio Station Employees stand up for their lives and rights by fending off terrorists.

Ditto.

BTW I wouldn’t mind if the terrorists grab some AP and Reuters journalists... OH! I forgot that they ARE terrorists!

Hard to believe that an attack that had to have lasted over 40 minutes, elicited no response from either the legitimate police in Baghdad, or the US military there.

The terrorists there all have cell phones; presumably normal people there also have cell phones. There were no calls for help? There are helicopters all over the place.

I hope we hear more about this incident.

With all of the troops there, no one could come to help in a half hour?

Half an hour can pass pretty quickly during a crisis.

Boy, that's what I call serious listener feedback on the sad state of the radio station's music play list.

"I tried to tell you guys I was sick of hearing Creedence Clearwater Revival!"
