Pres Reagan said he would sign the 1986 Immigration Reform and Control Act into law if it stipulated tough employer sanction provisions. Reagan got his way. IRCA included tough employer sanctions and up to a million dollar fine against any employer hiring illegals. In 1987 Ted Kennedy gutted those enforcement provisions after the Senate was back in the hands of the Dems. Leading to 20 years of liberal immigration policy from Bush41 to Bush43. BTW, the IRCA of 1986 is still a law on the books.
I'm not advocating mass deportation either, but I agree with Dobbs, if could be done. We might have some civil unrest, but its doable. Better yet, secure the borders, enforce employer sanctions and stop all welfare handouts to illegals. Build that wall and protect America, NOW!
Only if they take Lou Dobbs with them.
“Lou Dobbs is a self-proclaimed life-long Republican who is disillusioned with Out-sourcing and Illegal immigration.”
Who didn’t make a fuss about it during the Clinton years......
I remember. Thanks for bringing that up, many don’t understand what happened after Reagan signed the bill.
At least one that I know of!!! LOL
The process is speedy and reliable.
But check to establish that they're here LEGALLY...? Ooh, no..! That's very DIFFICULT..! It's....COMPLEX.
No more questions permitted.
Bump!
My guess is that Bush is counting the people who were stopped at the border and not about people who went through the deportation process.
President Bush Discusses Comprehensive Immigration Reform in Nebraska
June 7, 2006
"And since 2001, we've apprehended and sent back six million people trying to get in the country."
>>>”No need to deport them. Make (and enforce) sufficiently onerous penalties against employers and landlords of illegals and they’ll deport themselves virtually overnight.”
>>That solution seems obvious to me, why is there so little support for this approach in Washington?
Two words - Dow 13,000.
Free trade and open borders appear to be good for corporate America.
Reagan Man’s answer is to punish punish some more and if that does not work increase the punishments.
This is the answer the Left uses to Socially Engineer Society. Are you a conservative or a harsh right-winger?
The laws are in place; just enforce them by funding them. It is like the seat-belt laws. Have the press attend each deportation and the word will get out. After a year of this they will begin to leave on their own. If an illegal returns, and is caught, then prison work-gang time is required. Let them build the fences on the border. We should look to justice and building the border fence is only social justice.
Regarding punishing the landlords etc- that is a road to us spying on ourselves.
You can get a fake identity card for $50 here in Los Angeles.
I hated Chrissie Fit Matthews except when he was railing against Clintoon during the impeachment.
I hate Dobbs except when he is railing against illegal immigration.
Must be a stopped clock thing.
We should step up deportations FOR THE CHILDREN.
HELP KEEP KIDS SAFE. Deport FOR THE CHILDREN.
He says drawing a deep breath, and holding....

Likewise, make it a felony for any property owner to rent or sell to an illegal.
Any state that doesnt comply, cut off all federal funding at every level til the state gets with the program.
With five years, there would be a reverse of the tide back to Mexico, and elsewhere.
Sounds good, but my only question to you is: In order to make all of that work, it would take a National ID Card, and that means that YOU would have to show it for all of those transactions, too.
Are you willing to accept a National ID Card?

Its my position the Social Security Card is already our ‘national ID card’. Verifying a SSN number costs less than 45 cents per check. And it takes, literally, seconds to do so.
