BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- American soldiers discovered a girls' school being built north of Baghdad had become an explosives-rigged "death trap," the U.S. military said Thursday.
The plot at the Huda Girls' school in Tarmiya was a "sophisticated and premeditated attempt to inflict massive casualties on our most innocent victims," military spokesman Maj. Gen. William Caldwell said.
The military suspects the plot was the work of al Qaeda, because of its nature and sophistication, Caldwell said in an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer.
The plot was uncovered Saturday, when troopers in the Salaheddin province found detonating wire across the street from the school. They picked up the wire and followed its trail, which led to the school. Once inside, they found an explosive-filled propane tank buried beneath the floor. There were artillery shells built into the ceiling and floor, and another propane tank was found, the military said.

Isn’t that along the lines of what happened in Beslan?

Sounds like we need to review the contractors involved. DU will no doubt accuse Halliburton. %^(

It’s like Beslan in the fact that the terrorist are willing to kill innocent children outright. I don’t think Russia ever retaliated over that massacre?

At Beslan I think they discovered that some of the terrorists had done construction work at the school and stashed bombs and weapons ahead of time.

Isnt that along the lines of what happened in Beslan?
May 1st, 2004 (the year of seizure of Beslan, which was the following September 1st), President Kadyrov (the father of the present Chechen president) was assassinated by a bomb built into the VIP section of a stadium.
There were reports that, 2 years earlier, weapons and explosives were pre-positioned in the theatrical complex at Dubrovka during a renovation of the theater before the ill-fated 'Nord-Ost' musical.
This seems to be a jihadist MO.

Lately there have been more and more Islamist ready for peace but for others it just seems out of the question and those are the ones that need exterminated.

"..Iraqi contractors were responsible for building the school, which was intended to bring in hundreds of girls.
"Given the care and work put into emplacing this IED, it is likely it had been planned for a long time" and it is thought that "the IED was not intended to be set off until the building was occupied," the military said.
Authorities intend to question the Iraqis involved in the school's construction..."
How in hell could something like that be built without someone telling? For this to happen, some of the construction crew would have to know.

And these are the animals Democrats want to surrender Iraqis over to. Have they no shame?? Yet Democrats and the media told us to be indignant over the Serbs and their actions in the Balkans which make them look like amateurs next to these psychotic brutes in Al Qaeda and no military effort was to be spared in stopping the Serbs. I almost wish a Democrat was running this war. Maybe the media and their liberal political friends would then find cause for supporting it, and see the humanitarian aspects in saving Iraq from falling into the hands of lunatic mass murderers.

There’s a picture of the bombs on CNN’s website and I too find it hard to believe the foreman didn’t notice a thing.

Sadly I've had the same thought. At least conservative support for our troops doesn't waver according to who happens to sit in the oval office.
