AUSTIN — Gov. Rick Perry urged lawmakers to cut school property tax rates by an additional $2.5 billion Wednesday, and House Speaker Tom Craddick said his chamber is already on track to consider the idea.

But Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, who presides over the Senate, said the state can't afford it unless revenues dramatically increase, not if lawmakers want to balance the budget and meet their commitment in future years to subsidize already-promised tax relief.

If it is going to be anything like the last so-called cuts, why bother. Still, I’m all for them. Maybe in time, the cuts will amount to something.

Got to wonder if this is a plow by Perry to hang on to his job. After the STD shot and his “A.Q. have been arrested at the border” comment last week if he is building up ammo in case Dewhurst takes a run at his job. That way Perry can say he tried to cut taxes but Dewhurst killed it.

I didn’t vote for either one of these turkeys.

What’s happened to the state GOP?

I live in Williamson County, supposedly one of the more “conservative” counties in the state.

But our tax-and-spend Chamber of Commerce Real Estate Republicans are every bit as bad as the donks, IMHO.

Vermin scum, every last one of em. At every level — state, county, municipal, school board.

In bed with contractors, big construction firms, teachers’ unions, developers, and the like. Small government, my heinie.

They LOVE taxes. The county appraisal board was reasonable and fair, 15 years ago. These days, they’d just as soon screw you as look at you.

What’s more... they LOVE illegals!

Disgusting.

Sounds like you have tax problems in Taxus. For a permanent solution to tax crazy politicians and teachers unions, try a Proposition 13 style tax revolt. If you want to know more, check out www.hjta.org.
