Why dont you go chase down some squirrels, McMahon then suggested to the officer. LOL! Washington, D.C. Astronomical homicide rate, half the fire hydrants don't work, rats on the mall, and the schools are a disgrace. But by God, keep your dog on a leash!

That’s what happens when you are married to a Republican or are a Republican living in DC.

“Other sources familiar with the case say McMahon tried for months to pay the fine. Trouble was, the ticket did not note an address where it should be sent. Nevertheless, McMahon found an address for the Park Police and mailed his payment there.
It was too late. Early last month, McMahon returned from business overseas to discover that Smith had requested a warrant for his arrest, which a judge issued. “
I like his wife as Press Secretary. That said, if you are going to be a smart alec with a cop giving you a ticket, you better pay the fine on time.
Or this tends to happen.....(chuckle)

The article doesn’t address the issue of whether the dog was under control without a leash. Just curious.

I’m surprised they’re enforcing the law in D.C.
Our ‘superiors’ in DC think laws are only for the little people.
This guy obviously felt he is in the ‘superior’ category and the rules didn’t apply to him.

The cop really didn’t sound like he was being unreasonable.

McMahon replied that he didnt have a leash, so Smith issued him a violation notice, complete with a $25 fine. Why dont you go chase down some squirrels, McMahon then suggested to the officer. This is hilarious and probably what really got him the jail time.

Let me get this straight, a congress”woman” hits a cop and this guy is in jail for a leash violation?

Sometimes, she (Dana) walks Henry, their Hungarian hunting dog. When Perino says to the dog, “Tell us what you think of John Kerry,” the dog runs off and fetches flip-flops.
“It only took half a dozen times of Dana showing him for him to learn that,” McMahon marvels.

The Park Police should be feeding the ducks and getting cats out of trees rather than engaging in LE activity. That’s why their jurisdiction is a time-honored favorite for disposing of bodies since the early 60’s.

I think he might have gotten out of the jail time if not for the ‘squirrel’ remark.

Some guy goes to the park and breaks the rules. Park policeman, whose job it is to enforce the park rules, asks the guy to obey the rules. Guy mouths off, continues to violate rules, and gets a citation. Guy fails to pay citation and a warrant is issued. Guy later goes to cop shop and resolves the citation and warrant after some inconvenience. Some FReepers complain about the cops and/or see larger issues at play other than a guy who didn't want to obey the law.
Ho hum.
