Psalm 66:19-20

God has heard me. He has attended to the voice of my prayer.
Blessed be God, who has not turned away my prayer,
nor His mercy from me!

Holy Father,

You are the source of rest and renewal that each of us needs. Thank You for hearing us, Lord, and for allowing us to draw on Your strength and to be renewed by Your Spirit. We thank You that You understand the physical, mental, and spiritual needs of Your children, and that You invite us to go away to a quiet place and to rest. We ask that You would provide that rest for President Bush no matter where he may be. Help him to find many opportunities to be in communion with You, to listen for Your voice, to feel Your calming presence, and to experience Your wonderful renewal. We know that You are the fountain of blessing---the source of all wisdom, all courage, all honor, all strength. You are the only true God.

Father, we come together as a body of believers who confess the power and ability that You have given President Bush. Please surround him with advisors and wise counselors who will help him to stand for Your truths as he leads this nation. Lord, let him not waiver, nor let him fear. Help him to rely on You to strengthen him and Your righteous right hand to lead him. We pray that You would give him the words to speak to the American people---words of truth, words of inspiration, and words of calm assurance during times of uncertainty. Father, as he spends time with You during the coming week, we humbly ask that he would know and understand Your will, and most of all that he would be willing to obey it. We commit this all to You, Lord, knowing that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to Your power, through Christ Jesus.

Lord, we remember the brave Americans serving valiantly in Iraq. They are close to victory, Lord, yet there are those who want them to give up and abandon their cause. Political gain means more to some than does providing a stable and healthy government and economy for a nation of people. Help our military men and women, Father, to have faith in You and to do their assignments in ways that honor Your Name. Give our leaders there the wisdom to help the Iraqi people to maintain a safe environment and to ensure a government that will allow for the freedom of the people. May we show the terrorists that they are the ones who will lose if they continue to be the bullies of the world. Protect our nation, Lord, and help us to continue to defend those who are unable to defend themselves.

Father, please comfort the victims of the Kansas tornadoes. Help them to pick up the pieces of their lives and to rally around each other to support their neighbors and families. Please comfort all who have lost their loved ones and their homes.

God, You are our help in ages past; our hope for years to come. Hear the prayers of Your children who cry out to You for the protection of this country’s rights and freedoms. We believe in Your power, and we give You all the praise and glory. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Faith, a beautiful and inspirational prayer.

I join you in lifting up our brother, George W. Bush, who we know takes comfort in the voices of his fellow Christians as they pray for him. May he know the peace and contentment of one who is gathered into the community of Christ.

Can we Ever Praise You Enough?

Lord, we know we can do nothing to deserve Your blessings, Your grace, and Your mercy. May our lives be gifts of praise and blessing to You, for only You are worthy. Let the people praise You, O Lord; let all the people praise You. In the Name of the blessed Savior of all people, Amen.
