WASHINGTON | A parody broadcast by radio personality Rush Limbaugh about Sen. Barack Obama’s popularity with many white voters is drawing fire from critics, who say that it’s racist.

The clip, “Barack the Magic Negro,” features a comedian imitating the singing voice of the Rev. Al Sharpton, bemoaning Obama’s popularity with whites who will “vote for him and not for me cause he’s not from da hood.”

Obama’s campaign called the song “dumb,” although a spokesman said that the campaign doesn’t think anyone is taking the song seriously.

Of course, there is no mention of the original liberal LA Times article for "The Magic Negro" in this report, is there?

Didn't think so. Link: http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/la-oe-ehrenstein19mar19,0,5335087.story?coll=la-opinion-center>

I’m sorry, but if Obama is not the “Magic Negro”, as described by the LATimes, then who is?

There is no end to the good reasons to trash the 1st amendment. Really, someone could get hurt.

Blacks of course are permitted to question, insult, and degrade the level of authenticity of Obama’s blackness, but whitey had darn well better follow suit.

The parody itself prominently mentions the LA Times.

It is racist to use the term “Magic Negro”. The LA Times should do penance by ceasing publication for a week. Think of the all the trees that will be saved.

It was a parody of an LA Times editorial.

Limbaugh’s critics say the song goes too far — particularly because it is spreading on the Internet as Obama, an Illinois Democrat, faces heightened security concerns fueled in part by hateful e-mails, letters and Web postings.

I love how they try and link a parody song based on a LA Times article with supposed threats against Obama. Guess they are laying the groundwork for future reporting should something actually happen to him.

How can it be racist? Rush didn’t make fun of Osama’s ears...as did Hillary! Clinton Rodham.

In fact it is as much about making fun of the LA Times as it is about Obama.

If you’re gonna do a “Your Mama’s So Fat...” joke, allow me to do a blonde joke:

A blonde with two red ears went to her doctor.

The doctor asked her what had happened to her ears and she answered, “I was ironing a shirt and the phone rang - but instead of picking up the phone, I accidentally picked up the iron and stuck it to my ear.”

“Oh Dear!” the doctor exclaimed in disbelief. “But, what happened to your other ear?”

“The jerk called back!”

I’m curious... Are they expecting an “apology” from Rush??!

It would be fun watching them turn blue waiting... and waiting... and waiting...

The Song parody references the The LA Times article which references the Wikipedia article on Magical Negro
[snip]

The term was popularized by Spike Lee, who dismissed the archetype of the "super-duper magical negro"[2] in 2001 while discussing films with students at Washington State University[3] and at Yale University.[4] [snip]

The magical negro is typically "in some way outwardly or inwardly disabled, either by discrimination, disability or social constraint," often a janitor or prisoner.[5] He has no past; he simply appears one day to help the white protagonist.[6] [snip]

I thought that the parody was pretty clever, it pokes fun at the LA times, Race pimps, and the liberalism in general.

Rush is still quite relevant INOW.

Anything Rush says will be called “racist,” “bigoted,” “homphobic,” or just plain “hate talk.”
