GIULIANI URGES CLINTON TO RELEASE ISRAELI SPY (1999, Jonathan Pollard)
Times Union | Sep 29, 1999 | Stewart M. Powell

Posted on 05/06/2007 11:57:38 AM PDT by calcowgirl

WASHINGTON -- New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani urged President Clinton Tuesday to free convicted Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard, a move that could boost Jewish support for the Republican's prospective Senate campaign -- and complicate a possible run in 2000 by First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton.

...

Regarding Pollard, Giuliani said the Israeli deserves presidential clemency because the life sentence for espionage given him in 1987 goes "way beyond" sentences given in the past to American citizens convicted of spying for a U.S. ally.

Pollard, a former civilian U.S. Navy intelligence analyst, has already served a longer prison term than enemy spies who are routinely traded by their governments, according to Giuliani, a former federal prosecutor and associate attorney general in the Justice Department.

"It seems to me that there was an appropriate basis on which the President could exercise his discretion and cut that particular sentence," Giuliani said, adding that Pollard has "served much more than anyone else convicted of the same thing."

Giuliani stressed that he was restating a position that he had taken on the Pollard case "a couple of years ago" rather than announcing a new position.

The Clinton administration continues to review clemency for Pollard following repeated requests by the Israeli government. ...

...

Giuliani deflected questions about whether he would endorse Texas Gov. George W. Bush as the Republican presidential nominee. The Associated Press quoted a top New York GOP official as saying the mayor could make such an announcement on Thursday.

Whenever I feel bad for Pollard, I think of the USS Liberty until the sympathy goes away.

Good link and so true.

You can use that quote any time you want. That is my unequivocal position and should be of any American.

Thanks Condor--I just used it again. I had missed that thread when it was first posted but scanned it the other day when the article was referred to on this thread. I agree with you wholeheartedly (it ain't really rocket science!). I'm from California--home of a Dual-Citizen Gov. Schwarzenegger. We have seen first hand his many actions that seem to favor the UN or the EU more than California or the United States. I am also thankful the founders had the vision to exclude foreign-born citizens from becoming president.

Questioning people’s loyalty is a murky thing.

No. It's insulting and in this case unfounded. And you still didn't answer the question.

I’d appreciate it if you would do me a big favor. Would you, please?

Double check that text file you created from cutting and pasting all my FR posts.

You’ll see you made a slight error-——it’s not spelled endless war hopefuls-—it’s spelled Endless War Hopefuls.

I’m so afraid you might inadvertently be accused of “hate” or “animosity” toward this important voting bloc by referencing them in lower case.

And please pass the word around, would you when you pass around my posts.

Thanks. Appreciate it.

Absolutely, though they're posted not passed around.

Endless War Hopefuls

Same folks as the Middle East Heretics.

It's a legitimate and widely held position.

Okay sparky let's get some things clear.

  1. I'm talking about dual citizenship, dual voting rights and dual LOYALTIES, NOT Dubya hosting the Queen moron.

  2. Now, as to FDR. That criminal sob should be dug up, tried for treason, summarily shot, then tossed in a garbage dump. What he did was prior to 12-7-41 was ILLEGAL. And I ain't talking about Lend-Lease. FDR and the Drunk had secret communications where they both tried to figure ways to get the US into WWII. Then when do get attacked by Japan what does FDR do - he attacks Germany in North Africa. UTTERLY &^%&ing BRILLIANT Watson!!!

Lastly - that %^$%ing pos FDR is solely responsible for the enslavement and DEATH of millions of Eastern Europeans when he 'gave' it to his buddy 'Uncle Joe' Stalin. Now who the ___ was he to 'give' Poland, Hungary, Romania, 1/2 of Germany, Czechoslovakia, etc, etc, etc. to the f**king Commies?

  3. Now back to Dual Citizenship and 'loyalties'.
When Israel ans the Hezzies had their little war. Fox News interviewed this guy from Georgia who was going over to enlist in the Israeli Army. Pretty commendable, right? WRONG.

The FoxNews babe asks him why he was doing this - going to fight for a foreign country. Well guy stats speaking (his Southern Drawl was thicker than molasses) and he says, "I was born and raised in Georgia - lived her all my life - but I'm an Israeli first".

Got that, he was an 'Israeli First', not an American - but Israeli. the son of a bitch never left Georgia nd he was 'an Israeli'!

(If I could have reached that puke through the TV there'd be nothing left of that *&%^ to 'enlist'.)

So there's your 'dual citizenship' and 'duel loyalties'. That low life bloodsucker had no problem running off to join the Israeli Army, but not the US Army to fight OUR ENEMIES..

ps: I got your America First Idiots right 'here' sh*thead. If you don't like America - get the fu+k out maggot.

We have some brave young men in Georgia; that one is an example. We and Israel fight the same enemy, we should all be "Israeli" Firsters in that regard.

Another generation of heroes put it thusly: "Lafayette! We are here!". That was Pershing's Army. But even before that band of brothers, of heroes, was the Lafayette Escadrille. In a way, those American Lads put France first.

Heroes!

They knew which side they were on!

QED. Your loathsome buddy has now flown HIS true colors. They are the green of spiteful spitting hate, and the yellow of cowardice. His post really says that all so much more clearly.

He is as American as any copperhead ever was. You've already used the term that describes such Americans. Traitors.

With all of that hate spewing from your keyboard, I hardly think you are in a posiiton to accuse others of such acts.

Your priorities are now understood and they are contrary to the well-being of United States citizens.

Jonathan Pollard was a traitor and deserves to rot in jail until death. End of story.

Marcus Tullius Cicero Roman Statesman Speech in the Roman Senate - 42 BC

A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist.

The story is far from ended. Let it be known though -- I despise yellow-belly traitors to America like Condor51.

My priorities are life, liberty and the pursuit of the good. I know who our enemies are, and I know who our allies are -- at least to the extent a man can. There are always limits and hidden dangers. In these days though, doesn't take too much holding of the ship of truth's wheel to navigate the constant hazards in the seas of falsehood and delusion. These days the enemies are obvious. At least to many Americans and Freepers.

But a man who reaches back and damns FDR for taking on Germany -- that man is unhinged by the demons of his own racial hatreds -- and those kinds of hatreds and insanities are toxic to Americans and all our allies of Liberty.

Where is your scorn for that vile toxin and its bringer? Why is it absent, why are you kind to real traitors and traitorous attitudes?

Check yourself, lady.

The story goes on. America will survive its home-grown pests and spiritual typhoid carriers.

Free Mr. Pollard.

You sure can twist things. I stand by my post.

BTW, it is courtesy to ping others to posts in which you mention them, let alone trash them as you are attempting to do.

This is a public forum — all posts are open to all eyes. And no that “pinging” is not courtesy in some cases, most cases even. The more courteous thing is to let sleeping dogs lie, or frothing dogs to their own froth, and not be ringing the dinner bell for them.

Is that so? I'd guess you are very learned in back-stabbing, so I bow to the expert.

Still, it's no courtesy. For I think you are absent any grace in honest courtesy. Honest courtesy comes from the open and caring heart.

I have little compassion for traitors, murderers and other criminals.
Other than that, I am quite open and caring, particularly when it comes to my beloved U.S. of A.

As to all of the personal insults you have thrown my way, I suggest you look in a mirror.

What about the US is beloved to such as you? Not our Ideals, nor the examples of the bravest. You hate the brave, and are ignorant of the ideals. A young man from Georgia goes to join an ally -- Israel -- to fight for the cause of freedom and you celebrate a cretin who most his vilely mocks that heroism. You'd spit on Lafayette's grave for the same reason, so can one suppose. You ally with misanthropes and whining klagons. Your idea of courtesy is to invite the rude to rudeness.

Yes, all in all, I can see why such as you are exceedingly upset that Jew Pollard might be freed.
