Interesting you should post this from the Turkish Press. Sarkozy does not want Turkey to join the EU.

The United States and France are historic allies and partners. President Bush looks forward to working with President-elect Sarkozy as we continue our strong alliance.Uh, yeeeaaaaah. Anyone remember how France made the rounds of UN Security Council members to sabotage the Iraq war vote, and the French foreign minister declaring that military intervention in Iraq "would be the worst possible solution"? With strong allies like these ...

Sarkozy does not want Turkey to join the EU. And for good reason. As soon as Turkey joins the EU, there will be mass exodus from Turkey and the rest of the EU will be flooded with Turks (ie muslims). There is already enough of a Muslim headache to deal with .

They have been burning cars every night anyway. It only gets into the news if it exceeds 200 in one night.

The irony: Bush wants Turkey in the EU. There, I'll say it: There are things about which the French are right and the Bush administration is wrong ;).

Sarkozy’s positions on issues are very similar to Guiliani’s...
I don’t think there’s going to be much you want Bush to emulate here -— particularly in the social/ family areas.

Have Gore, Clinton, Kerry, Dean, Pelosi, Reid, Biden, Schumer, Kennedy, Obama, and the other lunatics demanded a recount yet?

Oh, I thought Sarkozy was a conservative. I guess a conservative in France ain’t the same thing.

The last of the de gaullist dinosaur presidents of France (Chirac) is put out to pasture. Good riddens to bad cheese.
While I expect that political relations between France and the US are going to improve greatly under Sarko, just like they did when Harper won in Canada, Western europe politics states that anytime your poll numbers are sinking, just start bashing the US, and you’ll get a nice bump or will push you over a tight race to win an election.
Using the USA as a scapegoat has become a part of western europes political and social culture.

Bush wants to look into his eyes and tell use he doesn’t see a spineless euro weasel.
WHY does the leader of this Great Nation even give these appeasers the time of day ?
I’d rather he phone the weasel in chief to tell him his citizens are no longer welcome in this nation.
