Pointing out the NYT’s left-wing bias is like pointing out water’s wetness.

Sarkozy is about as conservative as John McCain. Which, of course, is still too conservative for the NY Slimes.

Liberals believe no conservative can have a mandate. They're illegitimate fascist, racist, sexist homophobes. No one could ever vote for one.

How should we describe the NYT and what they have to do to turn themselves around and prove they are relevant? I’d describe them as unfamiliar with the truth, far left of center, arrogant, dismissive of American values, traitorous, and dangerous to our way of life. I’m thrilled they feel it necessary to trash Sarkozy any other reaction would have dampened my enthusiasm for the new president.

* Arrogant, brutal, an authoritarian demagogue... * ...one of the most polarizing figures to move into Élysée Palace in the postwar era... * He has always been nakedly ambitious, pragmatic and calculating and not beyond betrayal to reach his goals. * Mr. Sarkozy is a tad shorter than Napoleon was. His profile is remarkably similar to that of Louis XIV. * Mr. Sarkozys brash manner and strong oratory style... * Many people regarded the anticrime campaign as a calculated effort to win support from Frances far right in anticipation of his presidential bid. * Mr. Sarkozys personal life has been less successful than his public one...

The NYTimes is sore they won’t be able to hold the French up to us anymore as an example of the way a civilized country should behave. Quelle catastrophe!
What will Jean Francois Kerry’s reaction be?

The New York Slimes realizes that this makes next year’s election a lot more difficult for the ‘Rats to win.
They know that it will be impossible to make the claim next year that it’s the “worst economy since Hoover” because nobody will buy it.
That leaves “American foreign policy is a failure because our allies don’t support us.” And that is now over, even with Blair retired and the probable British withdrawal of troops, the British are unlikely to abandon us. Germany and now France have both elected pro-American conservative leaders — there is no way to say the world hates us when Britain, German and France are not criticizing us.
