Stop me if you've read this column before. In 1999, I wrote a dreamy tribute to then presidential candidate Bill Bradley and commented: "I don't believe that I will ever live in a country that elects Bill Bradley president. I'd like to live in that country, though."
In 2002, 27 months before Howard Dean's presidential campaign imploded, I wrote: "Howard Dean is the story we tell ourselves every four years; the Paul Tsongas story, the Bruce Babbitt story, the John Anderson story. It is a very diverting fable, this notion of the brilliant, worthy, and committed outsider who has a decent chance of becoming our next president."
No stranger to self-plagiarism, I added: "I wouldn't mind living in a country where Howard Dean was president, but somehow I don't think that I will."
Meet Barack Obama, the BradleyDeanBabbittTsongas of the 2008 election cycle.
I can't recapitulate in just a few words the outpourings of numerous magazine covers, network television features , and acres of cuddly op-ed commentary. In their current revue, Chicago's Second City comedy troupe lampoons Obama-mania: "Barack is accessible," one actor explains to a fictional Hillary Clinton. "You want to talk to him, you want to hang out with him. You want him to lie on top of you and sing you a lullaby."
Let me repeat: I wouldn't mind living in a country where Barack Obama is president.

Still amazes me how someone so totally without experience could even get near the top race. And a generic, playbook liberal at that.
I’m praying Barry Hussein gets the nomination. Then my dog can beat him...and she died in January.
Liking Obama is a Statement, like wearing a “Live Strong” bracelet or driving a hybrid.
It’s a multi-culti coolness media-wrapped-in-itself with a ‘here’s a fresh face’ factor.
It has nothing to do with his (lack of) qualifications.
It’s .... The Audacity of Hype.
The end of Western civilization and America.
Howard Lunatic Dean as POTUS
Jon Francois Kerry as POTUS
Al Gore Bore as POTUS
The PIAPS Helldabeast as POTUS
And Barack Hussein O’Baloney as POTUS
or Dennis The Menace Kookyspinich as POTUS
Where do these people come from?
I know what you mean but I think the answer is that in America all politics is not local but racial.
Its a multi-culti coolness media-wrapped-in-itself with a heres a fresh face factor.
:::
I hear ya, but this election is so serious relative to the future of this country, that I am way beyond media hype and glitz ...
This is a serious situation with our very republic and our freedoms at stake.
Say what?
"brilliant"?
"worthy"?
"committed"?
All this self-absorbed-jerk-worshipper's favorites are left-wing hacks and losers. There isn't a "brilliant" or "worthy" one among them.
And if any of them were/are "committed" to anything at all, it is the destruction of the Republic.

Welcome to the “Princess Diana is Dead” Generation.
Hello. Barak is a puppet, and he serves powewrful well-financed leftists. A classic empty suit, he will say whatever he is told to say and be whoever he is told to be. I don't know if MoveOn and Gauleiter Soros can pull it off. I'd guess the odds are against them, but they have created Obama to spring full blown from the forehead of Zeus.
Welcome to the “Paris Hilton is an exceptional talent for a Whore” generation.
What good points? All I can see is Alex Beam whining that the liberal horse he bets on never wins.
Yeah, it’s a lousy column. I was hoping for a well-reasoned argument for why Hussein can’t be elected.
Beam did not provide anything of the kind. Oprahbama is, unfortunately, a very strong candidate for the Rats. Perhaps stronger than Shrillary. He’s a complete empty suit and phony, not to mention a leftist. But the same was true of John Frog Kerry, and he damned near won. The American people are not that bright. Alex Beam might just get his wish, unfortunately.
“Sometimes I get tired and make mistakes.” Barak Obama
Exactly.. Obama is all Nappy headed RAP... no Hat..
Hussein is a political ho’.
He is Chauncy Gardener meets the “Magic Negro” IMHO.
BTW, I didn’t mean I agreed with the idiot that wrote this column, only that some of the reasons he states are correct.
Chauncy Gardiner meets the Magic Negro. Very well put.
That’s Obama to a T (not Mr. T).
