Whose War Is It Anyway?

"The Democrats' excuse-making just doesn’t cut it." ................................ “This war is lost,” Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid recently proclaimed."...... ....................... That pessimism about Iraq is now widely shared by his Democratic colleagues. But many of these converted doves aren’t being quite honest about why they’ve radically changed their views of the war.

Most of the serious Democratic presidential candidates — Sens. Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and Christopher Dodd and former Sen. John Edwards — once voted, along with Reid, to authorize the war. Sen. Barack Obama didn’t. But, then, he wasn’t in the Senate at the time.

Now these former supporters of Iraq find themselves under assault by a Democratic base that demands apologies. Only Edwards has said he is sorry for his vote of support.

Hanson makes the mistake of assuming Democrats are capable of expressing genuine concern about the present situation in Iraq.

That's of no interest to them. All that matters is that America is defeated while a Republican president is in office. With Democrats everything is always about them, what they can gain through someone else's loss, even if the loser is their own country.

23 other reasons to go to war? Man, I like to see that list. It would be good ammo while arguing with meatheads, i.e., liberal Democrats.

“Hanson makes the mistake of assuming Democrats are capable of expressing genuine concern about the present situation in Iraq.”

Maybe he assumes that (I don’t know, as a fact, that he does) and maybe he’s just letting his reader see that appropriate conclusion for themselves - apparent in the Democrats own conflicted (past vs present) positions - without Victor stating the obvious.

Hanson should just spit it out and be done with pining for a Democrat party that exists no more.
