Don't know how many people have seen this movie, but what are your thoughts on something like it happening? If so, who would be involved? Also, how easy or hard would it be to fight them back, taking into consideration their manpower?
Well, if it happens, it ain’t gonna be Ruskies coming in using Cuba.
Most of the precursor stuff (shown in yellow text at the very beginning of the movie) has already happened (Mexicans fleeing their country, Greens taking over Europe, etc.) and I don’t think it has moved us that much closer to armed invasion.

Our country is being invaded right now - the only difference is, they’re not part of an organized army, carrying weapons or riding in tanks.
The enemy will not come by parachute because he is already here and he believes in jihad. The hard-left socialists in the dhimmiecrat party arranged for him to get here w/o firing a shot. To keep our country we have to defend it from the jihadists AND the liberals. Its not going to be easy and its not going to be pretty.
Oh yeah, I forgot about all the illegals too. Fortunately, most of them just want to take our livelihoods, not our lives.

It would take at least 10 times the D-Day forces at Normandy to invade the US on any coast, and a handful of paratroopers dropping in to Colorado is beyond ridiculous. The only overland invasion route with a remote chance of any penetration is through Mexico, and it would take a lot more than the D-Day resources to sustain it.

What I do see as viable is a Chinese occupation of several port cities like San Francisco, Long Beach, Portland, Seattle, San Diego, & Vancouver. The Chinese leadership in the PLA has stated their desires to establish these cities as Chinese adminstered 'trade zones' much the same way that Hong Kong, Macau, Shanghai, and etc. once were European administered trade zones within China.
Unlike in Red Dawn, I don't see the Chinese needing to invade us. The Red Democrats will fall all over themselves opening the door for China to do this and the dad-blasted Republicans will INVEST in the operation in the name of FREE TRADE and that traitor Rush Limbaugh will be the #1 cheerleader for the whole thing.
It’s on AMC today. Watched most of it myself while doing laundry and policing kids and was into it because I’d forgotten how it ended. Then I missed the LAST FIVE MINUTES breaking up a kid fight. Grr.
If they get away with building the 1/2 mile wide, fenced toll road from mexico to canada, I suspect the bad guys could just congregate in mexico and take numbers.
No, I’ve seen the movie a few times, and purchased the DVD last year.
I’ve wondered if Muslim teenagers feel this way and some sort of misplaced bravado causes them to fight our troops. I know Red Dawn is just a movie, but if some evil ideology such as al Queada preaches should fall on the ears of teens who feel that their plight is hopeless, certainly they could be brain washed into battling us. Why else would anyone try to take on the most powerful military might on earth?

When this movie was made Patrick Swayze looked like a kid just out of high school, Charlie Sheen looked like a kid still in high school, Powers Boothe was believable as a USAF Colonel and a good guy, and the Soviet Union was still a major threat.
Impractical. The government has enough weapons in storage for almost every US citizen to fight back an invasion. It would also be obvious as hell that someone was to invade because of the buildup it would require, ie. movement of troops, equipment, etc.

A more likely scenarion is massive civil unrest from the barbarian hordes that we’ve allowed across the border.
In the course of these events the cops and NG are ordered to arrest and / or disarm anyone who DARES defend themselves, their property, their community, or their nation.
If you’re lookin’ for a foreign enemy military, the add UN troops invited in for “pacification” and “peacekeeping.”

However, should Mexico fall to a leftist regime, and an independent Quebec go Marxist, there would then exist land bases from which to stage an invasion. There are several areas of instability that could be exploited to cause a high level of civil strife and maybe even a second civil war. These include many millions of unassimilated illegals who may be made "legal" in the near future; networks of radical Muslim terrorists, not all of whom are Middle Eastern, but could also be white (as with the Albanians recently charged with trying to attack Fort Dix), Asian (Indonesian and Malaysian), or black (the Beltway snipers); militant non-Muslim blacks like the New Black Panther Party; hard core Marxists like the Worker's World party or Act Up; and "faux right" white separatist militia groups, infiltrated by Muslim or Russian agents. Combine these factors with either a weak kneed liberal Administration like one under Obama or Edwards or a heavy handed Administration like one under Hillary that would try confiscating private firearms and purging the military and Federal law enforcement agencies of conservative personnel. There could then be a breakdown of civil order in this country or even a civil war that would provide cover for foreign intervention.
There are a lot of "ifs" and "maybes" in the above scenarios. However, vigilance is always necessary so that it will not happen here.

We’ve already been invaded by millions of military age men from other countries and are living and working here now. all that has to happen is for the Mexican truckers to start bringing their weapons to them.

In the state of Pennsylvania alone, on the first day of hunting, the number of armed hunters in the woods is greater than all the armies in Europe. Besides,, why invade when you can just get Democrats in power.
Why would they try to invade us, they have control of the US House and Senate already.
