Keith Olbermann, MSNBC news anchor and co-host of the news channels recent coverage of the Democrat and Republican presidential debates, said in a speech Thursday "the people who are defending us" against the threat of terrorist attack are misguided or overzealous or suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder". Olbermann drew nervous laughter for his remarks mocking law enforcement officials. Olbermann was speaking at the annual AAN Awards luncheon hosted by the Association of Alternative Weeklies in Manhattan. Olbermann received an award named for the late Molly Ivins.
This is the second time in three days that Olbermann has mocked efforts of law enforcement officials who arrested six men for allegedly plotting to carry out a terrorist attack at a military base in New Jersey. On the Wednesday telecast of Countdown with Keith Olbermann, he derided the efforts of law enforcement official in rounding up suspects dubbed the "Fort Dix Six", saying "the FBI arrested six 'morons'".
In his speech to the newspaper trade group, Olbermann said,
NOTE: We could have just as easily commented on Keith comparing himself to a firefighter rushing in to rescue people from a burning building, whining about being "attacked in every almost every imaginable way personally" or that he is "still waiting for somebody to come back with a rebuttal to the facts that I have tried to elucidate" but calling our troops "misguided, overzealous" and mentally ill was so obviously the low point in an otherwise shameful speech we had to lede with Keith disparaging the troops.
That MSNBC keeps such a transparent political propagandist in a “News” job raises serious questions about MSN and NBC’s crediblity and Journalistic Ethics.
ping
the shark has developed PTSD from Keith jumping it so often.
Swine.
“Association of Alternative Weeklies”? Now there’s a powerhouse organization if I ever heard of one. Suits Herr Olbermann to a ‘T’.
We need to check if Keith is a ‘recepient’ of the Albanian Isuues Caucus in our Congress. That may explain things.
This person is not contributing to the productive discourse on human events or American politics, and his presence is still allowed on MSNBC. Shameful.
Non politically correct comments get commenators the boot in quick fashion these days. I see Olbermann is still employed.
I went to the link and read the whole transcript. The quote plucked from his speech, hateful as it is, at least forms a complete thought. The rest of it is a rambling, incoherent mess. Reads like he was drunk or stoned.
What is the threshold for MSNBC to fire him? He seems to be constantly pushing that threshold, without consequence.
It isn't like his ratings protect him. What is the deal?
Don’t you dare question his patriotism though... or question why he was analyzing the Republican debate for PMSNBC.
“Non politically correct comments get commenators the boot in quick fashion these days. I see Olbermann is still employed.”
The left consider the FBI and our troops legit targets for abuse and ridicule, so Olbermann will get a pass. He`ll probably get a raise.
This clown is actually being brought back into NFL broadcasting next season. He is going to be doing commentary with Cris Collinsworth and that crew. I wonder how such an elitist, liberal snot will fare with the average football viewer? This would be a good chance to vote with the remote.
Just get him to say “nappy” or “Ho” on the air.
I think the Gore-loving, Kerry-loving, and terrorist-appeasing zealots are suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder with their Bush hatred and military hatred.
But until conservatives and former soldiers are willing to protest and burn Keith Olbermann in effigy in front of 30 Rockefeller Plaza, this clown will continue to be employed.
“I sit there with no doubt that there’s a threat. I have no doubt that there are terrorists.”
Keith...listen carefully...please stop trying to convince the general public that you really do think there’s a significant threat from Islamic Jihadists.
please stop trying to convince the general public that you really do think theres a significant threat from Islamic Jihadists....He does’nt. To him terrorists are LE, Bush, Rove and capitalists.
