The Taliban movement suffered a significant setback with the death of its top operational commander, Mullah Dadullah, but the brutal tactics he pioneered probably have left a lasting imprint on the insurgency, military officials and analysts said Sunday.
Dadullah, one of the senior-most Taliban figures to be killed by Western forces in more than five years of fighting, died Saturday in a U.S.-led military operation in the southern province of Helmand, U.S. and Afghan officials disclosed Sunday.
Although subordinate to the movement's supreme leader, Mullah Mohammed Omar, Dadullah was considered the commander in chief of Taliban forces, in charge of day-to-day military operations.
A flamboyant, one-legged figure with a penchant for casting himself in graphic Taliban recruiting videos, Dadullah had escaped death so many times that, to dispel any doubts, Afghan authorities displayed his blood-splattered corpse to reporters in the southern city of Kandahar. The body was wrapped in purple sheets and bore bullet wounds to the head and torso.

"I cant believe the LA Times reported this story."
We shall slowly see more balanced news coming out of the L/MSM as they sense the tide of victory in Iraq and Afghanistan cannot be turned by their one sided opinions.
Their camel droppings for the most part may aid the enemy but in the reality the aid is a falsehood.
Goons pick up on the L/MSM crap, and think they actually are winning something only to find JDAMs and other ordnance dropped on their miserable heads where small arms fire is not as effective to turn them into fertilizer.
These two fleging democracies are not going to turn back to shara law and feudalism.
Their peoples are slowly seeing what the western world has to much to offer them. Human nature is as it is. One who lives in a frigen camel shit hut with no ipods, satelite connections, PCs, stoves, washing machines etc., after seeing some in their communities gaining such western luxuries, and see westerners killing goons that would love to hack their heads off over the simplist idiotic things, are going to slowly wise up and start pointing the fingers at the soldiers of the black idol rock allah who's false prophet tried to set up as some kind of God morphed into a form very loosely congruant to the true God of Abraham.
It is going to take a long time. But slowly they will come around.
Let us remember with care, the world the Japanese lived in prior to being forced to surrender. They for a thousand years where just as good at hacking peoples heads off. Let there be no mistake. Muslims are just one of a number of peoples that where formed out of barbaric conditions and for centuries on end ruled by war lords, and those that tried to pretend to have some kind of holiness.
When they start to see new clean hospitals, nice schools for their children, clean water, improved road grids, reliable electrical transmission grids, and other things we take for granted given to them, as well as jobs that can turn out to have some meaning to them, they will continue to question the squaled conditions so many of them have endured for so long. As they see the western armies do no harm to them, but rid them of creeps who offer them no hope, they will slowly come around.
The GWOT is a long process. Those willing nations who have thus far contributed to it's succes should stand proud they really are making a great long term blessing to all mankind.

I just showed that Three Stooges clip to my 16-year-old and he was floored. He said, “How come nobody does great stuff like that anymore?” I told him I grew up watching the Three Stooges every afternoon on Sally Starr’s ‘Popeye Theater’.
To: Lancey Howard
Yeah, but I don’t remmeber its being in color...it’s sooooo much funnier in B&W.

Yeah, a lot of the old Stooges stuff was “colorized” a few years back. I am not a fan of colorization - - guess I’m a purist when it comes to the classics. As far as I know, NONE of the original Stooges (Curley/Shemp era) was filmed in color.
