Will history write that Bush was the right leader for this period? The pages are still being written. Bush did not exude the optimism, but as the candidates line up to replace him, will he be credited for the tough and forward thinking of the battle against terror?

Attacked our enemies with vigor.
Minuses
Ineffectual communicator.
Didn't fire poor performers.
Did NOTHING about over-regulation.
Gutless with the veto on spending.
With notable exceptions, PC appointments unless pressured to take quality people.
Sleazy globalist with regard to national sovereignty.
Attempted to subtly gut the conservative base.
I think history will be very kind to GWB - once today’s critics die off and history is written without emotion - despite his shortcomings.
I think W will become quite a statesman when the facts are uncovered about why the liberal news media lies so much about W and the media controllers are exposed and possibly jailed.
He won't deserve it if there is an amnesty for illegals.
I had such high hopes when Bush came out swinging over 911. His judicial appts were for the most part ok with the exception of Meyers. Dumb choice. Alito was a great replacement, but should have been first over Harriet.
But on just about everything else Bush has sucked. Immigration, communication and spending. What has ticked most people off is that his stupid "new tone" posture. What a load of horse poop. Major, major mistake on his part. That showed him to be gutless and timid to his enemies on capital hill...

On the plus side, you definitely have to add in cutting taxes and an overall good job with the economy. I’ll bet few people after 9/11 thought the economy would be in the position it’s in today.

To be fair, it NEVER damaged Reagan... and Reagan called it Amnesty! It was a MISTAKE then and it is a MISTAKE now.
