A woman who claimed that a family pet mutilated her infant son's genitals was taken into police custody Friday, accused of "using a sharp instrument" to "cut and remove" his private parts, a criminal complaint shows.
Katherine "Katie" Nadal, 25, is charged with injury to a child, a felony. The former Anahuac High School cheerleader was led away in handcuffs by two plainclothes Houston police officers shortly before her son's protective custody hearing began.
Nadal, a one-time cocktail waitress now unemployed, had arrived at the Harris County Juvenile Justice Center with her mother and her attorney, Itze Soliz Matthews, after missing the previous two custody hearings because she was in unspecified treatment programs. Police said Nadal did not appear surprised when they moved in to arrest her and never cried.
Nadal is accused of "intentionally and knowingly" causing serious bodily injury to her son when he was 5 weeks old, according to the police complaint filed Friday at the Harris County District Clerk's Office. The boy's penis and testicles were severed.
The complaint also accuses Nadal of inflicting the injuries "by manner and means unknown." Her bail was set at $75,000.

I wonder what the Andrea Yates-style defense for this scummer will be.
I read about this last week sometime, and I still can not even begin to form words about how horrible this story is. I can’t think of a punishment for this woman that will equal the lifelong suffering she has sentenced this child to. I can only pray for that poor baby boy.
Houston.......we have a problem. Is it the water down there or what? I read this the other day and couldn’t fathom why anyone in their right mind would leave a baby in the possession of one who is known to have mental problems.

Prayers for the poor baby & the hope that the mother gets put away for a very long time. I hope she gets jail time with some really big mean cell mates. Somehow I think she will just get time in a mental hospital & be out on the streets again. She shouldn’t be allowed to have more children IMO ever.

That was not intended to be hurtful towards the poor child. The issue is how methamphetamines are the real 28 days later drug. Pyschosis central. I wonder how many freedom fighters in the ME are strung out on this crap. Apparently it makes it easier to get medieval on someone. Sick.
Make the crime have triple damage like in civil cases when methamphetamines are involved. Make it the death penalty mandatory for people who do psychotic harm to others under the influence. It’s the only way to deter people. And if it doesn’t deter at least it ethically removes the criminally insane from society permanently. No mercy for people who do evil under the influence of this stuff. Remember Karla Fay Tucker? Same issue.
