Fred Thompson Responds to Michael Moore Challenge
Breitbart TV ^ | 5-15-07 | Breitbarttv

Posted on 05/15/2007 4:36:09 PM PDT by jackv

Exclusive: The confrontation over Cuba continues. Michael Moore has challenged Fred Thompson to a health care debate. At issue -- Moore's trip to Cuba and Thompson's criticism of that trip. Moore noted Thompson's evident favor for Cuban cigars as a possible violation of the trade embargo.

I don’t think it will be too long now...Fred will announce.

I'm thinking he will do it after his cable movie (where he plays former President Grant) comes out.

He needs to do some promoting for that, and some other stuff first (he is doing radio now for Paul Harvey). After thats up, he can announce and be good to go.

I think he would have announced already if it wasn't for the equal airtime laws, which would have caused problems for his radio station gig, HBO, and NBC.

Look for June or July.

I am doing a title search AND a keyword search before posting stories. Pain in the neck, but unless I am posting at the same time as someone else, or the title has been changed, it’s worked so far.

His ABC gigs are regularly scheduled newscasts, so shouldn’t be affected by the equal time rules.

“posted more than a couple of times today...
Search does indeed work.”

I hope that it gets posted a couple more times tomorrow too. It’s worth it.

Yeah - doing a search is a bit of an art.

Try this -- search for just one or two most important words, such as, in the case, search for "Thompson". Just that one word. Then sort by Date, most recent first. You will usually see duplicate posts, if they happened recently, near the top of the list.

If you search for the entire title, it will only hit on posts with exactly that entire same title, which will often miss minor variations in the title.

Don't search for the entire title, but rather just for one or two important words that you are -sure- would be in any reasonable variation of the title.

For example in this case, just search for "Thompson". Then sort by date, and the recent dups will be near the top.

Bravo! Smart use of the Internet. Well written, well acted, a clear, concise message, and of course he is absolutely correct about Castro and Moore.

Thats what I thought originally, but now I've heard different in that, it would be the equivalent of Dan Rather running for office while maintaining his nightly news job. Opposition candidates, could (not necessarily would, but its a risk) ask for or demand equal airtime.

I do know for a fact, that NBC will not run any episodes of Law and Order where he appears, if he declares, its not that big a deal to them, but TNT is really screwed since they will not run any episodes that feature him, and all they have are the repeats. HBO is also in the same boat for his upcoming movie.

Keep in mind that when Arnold (I am not sure how to spell his last name) was running for governor of California, all sorts of problems came up, including arguments that him appearing on a news program tobe interviewed should automatically entitle every single other candidate to the same time.

Fred should ask Mickey Mouse Moore how Clinton used his Cuban cigars.
