The Tybee was not extended in lenght. It was suppose to be but they halted it before she was cut in to. The Cutter came out of the Baltimore last month and headed back to Woods Hole for her recommisioning.
I figured that the “Tybee” wasn’t one of the “extended 110-footers”. Last I heard they were basically laid-up awaiting a dispostion, but they were basically unseaworthy.
As I said, my friend’s son was an exec on 1 of the 110 footers while it was undergoing extension work down in Baltimore. A real disaster according to him. His Mom & Dad live just south of York (PA), so he got to live at the “Mom & Pop Hilton” while stationed in Baltimore.
Yaeh it nice when they are close to home. We are in Northern Virginia, so he got to come home a few times...We didn’t see much of him, he has a girl friend at Geo. Mason.
Good luck to your son!
Congrats to your boy ! My son, Zach, will be finishing CG boot camp at cape may in 3 weeks and has just received his orders...he will be working for your son on the Tybee ! This is an exciting time for him, as his Coastie dream becomes reality. Semper Peratas !!!
Thanking him for his service. Now all you USGC folks what does WAGB stand for I know its for icebreakers but what are the words shorthand for?
Your son will love it. My son is glad he didn’t go to an AIDS TO NAVAGATION Cutter.
How old is your son?
