Mitt Romney:
"If you want to get something done in Washington you don't end up picking teams, with Republicans on one side, and Democrats on the other... I don't like winners and losers in Washington. I'd rather say 'Let's get together and work together.'"
Well since you ask, technically I've wanted my very own Mark-19 Automatic grenade launcher that I fell in love with during my days in the army.
The quick "Thump thump thump" of grenades hitting the target in quick succession 2000 meters down range makes a fun afternoon. (of course the dang thing jams up to often)
But to be honest, I don't think I'd trust you with one. So there are limits to what I consider prudent arms for civilians to bear. So shoot me.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio also endorses Mitt. I trust his judgement over yours any day.
The rants you keep regurgitating from the liberal Globe are getting old. Written anything else you want to post in the news section lately?
Romney's governorhsip has to be considered in context. To do otherwise is patently unfair. The legislative body with whom he worked daily, was 85% Democrat and 15% Republican in a state whose population is 70% Democrat. Do you have any idea the challenge that presented? Have you even given it a thought?
Imagine the difficulties for President Bush if the House and Senate were 85% Democrat and 15% Republican, with the American population being 70% Democrat. For starters, do you believe we would have gotten Justices Roberts and Alito? Do you think we'd still be in Iraq? Would partial birth abortion have been overturned? What kind of Liberal immigration bill would already have been passed?
Romney cut off some liberal fat, and curbed much of the liberalism in the legislation his administration sponsored. He wasn't King of Mass., but Governor. Considering the odds, he did rather well and better than most Republicans would in similar circumstances.
I am not in the mood to go tit for tat, and point by point with the information in your links. I'm too tired at the moment. But I will give it a go, tomorrow. I'm quite sure some of my fellow travelers would be more than willing, able and ready to help.
President’s Reagan and both Bushes, also supported/support AWB. You are not going to say President Reagan wasn’t a conservative, now are you?
Thank you for your service. Many of us are ever grateful! : )
Do you support an AWB?
You couldn’t answer a simple question, even. Just more misdirection.
our=your
I find it sadly humorous that you’ve spent all this time pretending that Romney doesn’t support a real assault weapons ban, but when pressed, in the end, you admit that you support the liberal position.
Spoken like a true Romney statist.
Now respond to post #143.
Oh, come now. Do you really think we should all be proud owners of military tanks?
Reminds me of post by a Giuliani supporter.
The guys who wrote the Second Amendment owned every kind of military weapon in existence at that time, up to and including the "weapons of mass destruction" of their day: warships.
Nice diversion, though. Romney thinks semi-auto rifles are too darned scary for sovereign citizens to "be trusted" with.
You cannot criticize Romney alone for opposing AWB's when Reagan and both Bush's also did so. Otherwise, the criticism is unfair and unbalanced and well.... too EV-like.
All you’re doing is justifying what you admit you disagree with, because your commitment to this Massachusetts liberal overrides every conservative principle you claim to hold.
Romney didn’t like “winners and losers in Washington.”
Yuck. I don’t like this at all.
NO, your kidding. /sarcasm
The guys? You mean the founding fathers? No wonder my friend thought it was really, really young people commenting on FR.
Long, long ago when I first signed up on Free Republic, I read a disagreement between Jim Robinson and Clarity regarding whether people should be able to own tanks, and the latest military equipment, rifles and bombs. Now, I well understand the constitution allows armed militias but I still haven't made up my mind who was right about that one.
Again, you and your friends’ use of tanks and grenade launchers is a red herring. Romney “doesn’t trust” the people of this country to even have scary looking semi-automatic rifles. And, oh my, those scary “big clips.”
The sovereign citizens of the United States, by allowing themselves to be deceived on this issue, have been reduced to being able to possess the firepower of an 1870’s cavalry trooper. If leftists like Romney have their way, we’ll be reduced to having the firepower of a a 1650’s serf. In other words, we’ll have none.
Bottom line: Politicians like Romney are a clear and present danger to liberty.
