“He said fixing the nation’s “broken borders” is long overdue.”

He said fixing the nation’s “broken LAWS” is long overdue.

Fixed.

I hope FR has the decency soon to take down that ridiculous “Day in the life of” Bush-worship photo thread. It’s becoming a serious affront to conservatives to keep that sort of garbage here.

***

To be fair, there are many who admire the President and would support him no matter what. Their desire to express that admiration should not be diminished. Also, I think it’s a nice gesture to have this thread, especially since there are so many out there who get great satisfaction trying to hamstring him at every turn. To me it’s an affront to watch so many revile and disrespect him and his office.

That said, I too am disappointed with his stand (or lack thereof) on this issue. For me, it’s really the only major quibble I have with him. I think he’s a good President for the most part and that eventually, he will be proven right, particularly about Iraq and the War on Terror. I just hope such recognition will occur in his lifetime.

When you can’t even get a majority in either house to SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, how do you expect them to pass a third-rail bill like this? It’s D.O.A., as the Dems always liked to say about our budgets.

President Bush is eager to sign a bill that isn't even written yet.

I sent an email to the President too. It won’t even be read him. I always get that response that “due to heavy volumne, yada, yada.” Well, I specifically ASKED for a response after one of my earlier emails and got nothing. I’m sorry. I now feel like there is NO ONE working for us. NO ONE. This is a disgraceful time for the United States of America and all involved in this should be ashamed. I know I am.... OF THEM.

Seems to me the fastest way to get the families together is to send them back.

yes, we have been sending email since 2000.
We have NEVER received a response. Guess we are not important enough or a celebrity. Just our votes are important. No more.

"I would only support the bill if Ted Kennedy personlly transported illegal aliens across the Rio Grande."

AND, resettled them in Hyannisport, Massachusetts, right in his "Kennedy Compound"!!

That fat degenerate sleazy lying piece of sewage needs to live with the consequences of his actions. Mary Jo Kopechne should have her grave moved to the center of the Kennedy rec room.

it’s our country, not theirs and they have no rights here.

That’s where you are wrong. This back-door deal proves that illegals have more rights than American citizens and that our legislators like Mexico’s citizens better than American citizens.
Prove me wrong. ;p)

"quibble?!?!"

Enabling the end of the American way of life should give you slightly more than a 'quibble' with this 'public servant.'

Your ilk are the reason this nation is in the state we find ourselves.

The 'respect' you think Mr. Bush deserves is not automatic or reflexive. It must be earned.

Allowing wages to be depressed by a flood of turd-worlders, embracing China and allowing her to become a serious challenge to us, squandering 4-6 years of GOP majority without a significant platform-issue victory, never using his veto power when it mattered...these are all things that earned Mr. Bush scorn from conservatives.

I'm appalled that you would posit that he is a good president. He is an unmitigated disaster for conservatives. Beyond that, he will destroy your Republican party for at least a generation.

Ok, I’ll concede a poor choice of words there. However, make no mistake I am very unhappy with his stance on this particular issue.

My “ilk? Have any idea just what my “ilk” is? Um, no. You don’t have a clue.

Agreed, and I think he has earned it for the most part, except for this one particular issue. At the very least, he’s a vast improvement over Bill Clinton.

If you want to blame the China problem on anyone, go back to Billy Bob Clinton, who among other things gave away secrets to the Chinese. And to be fair, quite a few Presidents before him have embraced China and more than a few other so-called friends and allies that anyone with an IQ of 70 or less could see are not our friends. A lot of blame to go around for all of these issues, not just the current President.

You can be as appalled as you like, but I stand by what I said. I think he is a good President for the most part. You, however, have a right to disagree...well, at least until the socialist Democrats come into full power in 08.

It seems the only word of “illegal” they understand is “votes” and this kind of loophole BS will keep going on until we VOTE these absolute idiots OUT OF EXISTENCE in US politics! This is why I support job reviews for politicians. If they are not doing their job, they should be FIRED! They have absolutely no place whasoever in US politics, all they care about is themselves.

Any other job with that kind of attitude would get one immediately fired. Why? Because #1 They are not doing their job, it`s as simple as that. Don`t forget, WE hire them to SERVE the people NOT themselves! They are now serving the whims of a foreign country and not the people who hired them in the first place! If it was up to me, they would also be liable for damages. I mean just think how much these SOB`s make every year and ask yourself if they are worth even a fraction of what we pay them. I mean what`s next, they choose to throw upon their employers (me and you) a form of tyranny? Well why not? They seem to do everything else against the constitution.

Ted Kennedy is insane. He is the poster boy for liberalism being a mental disorder.

Note to Ted: We are tired of you. Please retire. You are a gutless, spineless man - otherwise you would not feel that people are so weak that they need you to make their lives worthwhile, meaningful, and successful. What a disrespectful, arrogant, and condescending attitude.

Somehow I knew you'd leap at the China point. If you wanna do the wayback machine, start with Nixon. The point is, Jorgé had a majority in both the Senate and the House and did not revoke MFN status with China. He did not reverse anything Bubba started (or continued depending on your historical perspective) with China, worse yet, the technology transfers Clinton began have yet to be staunched.

In regards to my other points you ignored, Mr Bush has not advanced a single Republican grass roots issue. We even still have the damnable Department of Education for crying out loud. The closest thing we got was a limp-wristed partial birth abortion ban that still had loopholes.

The Dems have outmanuvered the administration from day 1 even though in the minority. Shameful.

Now that the Socialists have a majority the administration rolls over like an obedient puppy.

You say that Señor Bush is a "good President for the most part." What remains to be impressed by? The fact that he is nominally Republican? His impressive strides in reducing the size of government? (You may be unaware that Mr. Bush has GROWN the size of government more than all his predecessors. So that was sarcasm.)

Your 'ilk' is the kind of person who has blinders on to political reality which you have amply demonstrated. I don't have to 'know' you to see who you are, your words broadcast who you are.

Enlighten me. What good things has Mr. Bush done for America or conservatives to earn your loyalty?
