Cool idea, but using tires in VA is suicide.

You cut drain holes on the lower side of them, so they don’t hold water.
That also allows then to slowly release the water into the soil, but not hold it for mosquito breeding.
The other advantage over permanent raised beds is that you can easily move them aside, and till stuff in, instead of having to hand dig.

Or, more likely, might suggest it to my wife. I look at a plant, it dies. LOL.
