Now you’re just pulling things out of where your head normally resides, and making a complete fool of yourself in the process.

You obviously want to argue or otherwise get attention, so, go ahead, resume the rectal defilade position and have the last word, because I’m through giving you a platform for the exhibition of your lunacy.

You obviously want to argue or otherwise get attention,...

No, I wanted to discuss your claim, which I believe was poorly reasoned.

...so, go ahead, resume the rectal defilade position and have the last word, because I’m through giving you a platform for the exhibition of your lunacy.

In more simple terms, you've admitted to losing the debate and have decided to leave the game and take the ball home with you.

No surprise at that.

Yeah, I heard this this morning.

I had mistakenly set my radio alarm clock to WNYC, the local NPR oracle.

This "news" came right after I heard some thing about how Britain now had two Prime Ministers and perhaps Mr. Blair should "turn in the keys to Number Ten six weeks early...". That was followed by this discourse between a couple of erudite gentleman:

"Tell me, what do you think would have happened if Al Gore had won the election? Certainly we'd have a more environmental president..."

"Ahem, well, actually, he did win..."

This is one sure way to get me out of bed and moving toward the "off" button in short order.

Aaarrrgghhhhh.....how awful to have to hear that crap first thing in the morning.

I avoid NPR like the plague. I used to keep that station on in my office when I was working in the States because they played classical music during the day.

As soon as that NPR crap would start up in the afternoon, I'd literally leap across the office to change the station. LOL

So, no, 150K tax free is not worth it for this old boy...

Thing is, it's not just about the money. In fact, I don't really need the oveseas bucks anymore; I can get a pretty decent salary back home. And the job market where I come from is quite robust.

There's a lot more to it than that. As a couple of people on this thread have said, you get "the fever." ;-)

Leadpenny didn't lose a debate, he stated what actually happened under Bush #1. Units were de-activated and soldiers were demobilized all over Europe after the fall of the wall.

That POS Clinton just took the troop cuts further than they should have went, and the "BRAC" (Base Realignment And Closure) is still happening.

Home to Houston by Steve Earle

When I pulled out of Basra they all wished me luck
Just like they always did before
With a bulletproof screen on the hood of my truck
And a Bradley on my back door
And I wound her up and shifted her down
And I offered this prayer to my lord
I said “God get me back home to Houston alive
and I won’t drive a truck anymore”

Early in the mornin’ and I’m rollin’ fast
Haulin’ nine thousand gallons of high test gas
Sergeant on the radio hollerin’ at me
Look out up ahead here come a R.P.G.
If I ever get home to Houston alive
Then I won’t drive a truck anymore

I’ve driven the big rigs for all of my life
And my radio handle’s “Train”
Down steep mountain roads on the darkest of nights
I had ice water in my veins
And I come over here ‘cause I just didn’t care
Now I’m older and wiser by far
If I ever get home to Houston alive
Then I won’t drive a truck anymore

Great God A’mighty what was wrong with me
I know the money’s good but buddy can’t you see
You can’t take it with you and that ain’t no lie
I don’t wanna let ‘em get me I’m too young to die
If I ever get home to Houston alive
Then I won’t drive a truck anymore

Yes, I know Steve is a lefty but Home to Houston is a great song dedicated to contractors in Iraq.

We’re just cuttin up.

Really, you don’t expect anyone to top you on such serious subjects like “Mexican Lysol” or kitty cat bathroom habits now do you?

If you like living on the edge, OK. I’m waaaaay too old for that these days. For the younger at heart and body - it can be like the Wild West all over agin

Kinda gets to you, don't it?

It was weird being home. After a couple of weeks, I was actually looking forward to getting back to work.

It isn't just about the money.

Regards

It gets in your blood. I can't stay home yet...I tried.

Even though this place drives us nuts sometimes.

I know you understand. You've caught it, too. ;-)
