Yes, it is difficult to get handle on all the visa designations and the lawyers' websites are often helpful.

This DOL Law Guide gives some info in some of the visas in section E.

Keep in mind that the underlying problem, as Bush and others have pointed out, is that the system is broken.

No doubt the H2A and the H2B were adequate when they were created but today they are not. The quotas are ridiculously low and although there have been patches made to extend them, they are basically temporary/seasonal while employers need workers who are allowed to stay longer. The economy is absorbing 400-500 thousand illegals each year, which is why the Y quota is 400,000.

So, to answer your question, the Z and Y visas are new. The H2A will stay in place/be reformed and the H2B will still be needed.

The Z visa is for any and all. It has been stated that 55% of the illegals are Mexican, 20% are from other Latin America countries and 10% are asian. There are 50,000 illegal Irish.

The increase in the H1B quota, whatever it is, is separate.

Another thing to mention is that this legislation discontinues the "lottery" visa.

I am a fan of Tony’s- have been for years. Bright, witty and thinks on his feet. He does an excellent job as spokesman for The White House. I wouldn’t want to be in his shoes right now for anything..

Lots of us had very strenuous disagreements with him on the border/illegal immigration issue when he had his radio show.
..and so it’s not a surprise to hear him defending this bill as well as he’s doing.

In the meantime- his job is to be a spokesman for the administration.

Sadly- the administration is wrong.

I've nothing against Tony, he seems like a nice enough guy. I realize his job is tough but I still don't like the spokesman for the Whitehouse shucking and jiving about such a serious subject when the public deserves straight answers.

I understand your frustration, but I think you need to aim it at his boss.

If GWB was doing the right thing here, he’d be selling that in exactly the same way, even if he disagreed with it.

I'm embarrassed for Tony, I'm disgusted with his boss.

Bush: New World Order (Ordo ab Chao?)

Clinton: "end of big government" lies, technology to China, massive corruption at all levels, more lies (NWO goon run amok?)

Bush: CFR (severely restrain Conservative political speech), eliminate Posse Comitatus, amnesty for 20 million serfs, blow open the borders, trans America security arrangement, Canamex transportation corridor, etc. Bush was clearly sent to advance the NWO (and destroy conservatism, if it gets in the way). With the help of his friends McCain and Kennedy, this fraud is succeeding well beyond expectations.

Clinton: How bad can it get? VERY bad.

Where can I get a summary of the bill? If the congressmen cannot deceipher it by voting time, I certainly cannot.
