In the Clever Marketing Department(Duncan Hunter)

Yesterday, I received an email from Duncan Hunter's campaign for President and, I must admit, it is really clever. The email, exclusively for those working in the media, stated in the subject line that "A US Congressman wants to talk to you" and had the following message:

"United States Congressman Trent Franks (photo) of Phoenix wants to discuss politics with the media. He is so inspired by the candidacy of fellow Congressman Duncan Hunter that he is offering his personal cell phone number (202) ###-#### to the media. It is another sign of the growing traction the Hunter for President Campaign is getting as it travels through the early primary states. Franks has been an ardent supporter of Hunter since his campaign began. He is offering media interviews to analyze the recent South Carolina debate where Hunter scored very high, as declared by political strategists. 'I vision Duncan Hunter in the White House in 2009 and I want to visit with the media representatives to explain why.' Franks describes Hunter as, 'One part Ronald Reagan and one part John Wayne. 'Franks said he believes Hunter possesses the strength of character and the leadership qualities Americans want. He added, 'Duncan Hunter is the right man at the right time for the right reasons.'"

In the old days I use to do campaign consulting, so I find this idea interesting and if its objective was to get me to call, it worked. Sure enough, the very friendly Congressman answered the phone and we visited for several minutes as he walked to cast a vote. He is very passionate in his support and sincerely believes in Hunter and (to listen to him), his chances of winning.

This is an interesting way for Hunter to try and gain some media support. I'm glad to see that he has such a loyal supporter in congress. Go Hunter!

Thanks for posting this. On paper, Hunter has the strongest “Reagan conservative” credentials of the bunch.

Any idea why more folks aren’t talking about him?

Because he is a real conservative. Because if he wins the nomination he’ll be unstoppable in the general election, and the media doesn’t want that. They want to be able to destroy the Republican nominee, and no better way to do that then if Rudy McRomney is elected.

The media only talks about Republoican candidates that THEY want, therefore only the most liberal Rebubs are ever mentioned.

Sounds like some of my own words coming back to me! LOL!

>Any idea why more folks aren’t talking about him?<

Oh, but you are soooo wrong, my friend. More and more people are taking notice of, and talking about, Rep. Duncan Hunter every day. A little more exposure (the MSM is dead set against a strong, decisive and consistent Conservative candidacy) and the entire country will be a-buzz. As they should be, for Duncan Hunter is the last, best hope for our Republic. He will be a leader who listens, weighs, and decides, all in the best interests of the U.S.A..

I noticed the Laura Ingraham callers the other day. The calls went an easy 80% in favor of Hunter.

More and more people are taking notice of, and talking about, Rep. Duncan Hunter every day.

Mr. Trisham remarked yesterday that he has decided he likes Hunter. :)

I'm also trying to convert my sister, who has always been a McCain fan.

Duncan Hunter is the person responsible getting the fence built (which the new “immigration bill” cancels out) which was already had passed and funded, but only 2 miles built by Chertoff’s Dept. of Homeland “Security”.

Any idea why more folks aren’t talking about him?

It's hard to build a national following as a member of Congress, and until this campaign started, Mr. Hunter really didn't have much national exposure. He's been doing a great job in Congress for all of these years, but he's not stood in the spotlight very often. I've probably read his name in the past on immigration articles, but I don't remember him from those articles. I like Mr. Tancredo, but unlike Mr. Tancredo, Duncan Hunter has accomplished something huge in the fight against illegal immigration (the San Diego wall) without becoming a household name even among people who follow politics. If he'd delivered a memorable speech at a GOP convention or done something else to get attention, more people would be talking about him.

Candidates don't very often rise from obscurity to the presidency in a short period of time. Bill Clinton did it, but he had been high in the DLC which was formed to groom Democrat governors to win the presidency. Jimmy Carter did it, and he's a legitimate example. Both of them were governors, and governors are seen as natural candidates for the presidency. If Duncan Hunter can make it, he'll be an exception. Until there's more evidence that he can do it, I don't think that the media or most amateur political observers will talk about him.

If you know anyone involved in talk radio or even a morning DJ who talks about things, please ask them to talk up Mr. Hunter. If people start hearing his name, maybe they'll take a look at his views and begin to support him. I know a guy who's never voted but looked at what Mr. Hunter believes and may register in order to vote for Mr. Hunter in the primary. If we reach enough people like him, we can make some progress.

Another thing you can do is order T-shirts online at http://www.cafepress.com/hunter_08. This guy is a Freeper who has set up this site to sell some stuff and donate the proceeds to the campaign. If you wear the T-shirt to various events, a few people may notice the name and wonder who he is. Another good place to wear T-shirt or campaign buttons would be gun shows. Mr. Hunter is very strong on the Second Amendment, and folks at gun shows should like where he stands on the issues.

I don't know whether we can do enough with these kinds of efforts, but I know that making the effort will get us farther than not making the effort.

Bill

Thanks for the shoutout WFTR, that freeper is me, and I received a check from Cafepress in April for 27.60, which has already been sent to the Hunter campaign. I am expecting another check for 34.00 later this month, also for the campaign. Sales have slowed since Hunter now has his bumper stickers hitting the public now, but if anyone wants something special, I can set it up for you. LMK. All profit goes to Duncan.

Let's get the message out !!! I really believe the future of our country depends on our success in getting Hunter elected.

Hunter’s supporters have what some candidate’s supporters DON’T have - a passionate belief in their candidate! Even against most odds - we still believe in him. We KNOW he is the leader that is desperately needed for the times we live in. Once you look past the Odds Game & see what each candidate stands for - you will remember Duncan Hunter!

He’s doing about 1% now in the polls. We gotta get him up to at least 10% by mid-fall, and then on a steady upward trend til the primary.
