DOLE STATEMENT ON IMMIGRATION PROPOSAL

May 18th, 2007 - Washington, D.C. - U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole today made the following statement regarding the immigration reform proposal expected to come before the Senate on Monday:

“While I recognize that immigration reform is urgently needed, based on what I’ve learned so far, I would oppose this proposal unless it is radically altered,” said Dole.

Last year, Dole voted against the Senate bill that included amnesty, and she continues to oppose amnesty. She supports stricter border enforcement, effective workplace verification, and a truly temporary worker program to fill jobs that American workers do not want in construction, agriculture and other sectors.

Background:

As of Friday evening, the final text of the bill had not yet been released. Based on what she’s learned about the proposal, Dole is concerned that:

-Illegal immigrants could receive a special visa that could be renewed indefinitely; -Social Security benefits could be obtained on the basis of an expired Social Security number (as a result of overstaying a visa); and -the so-called “triggers” would not sufficiently secure the border.

It’s gotta be a stinker when Libby Dole votes against it.

Way to go.

I just saw Fred Barnes on Foxnews praising Ted Kennedy and the immigration deal.

Sickening!

I’m e-mailing those bums and letting them know what I think of them.

I sent Dole and Burr and email and asked if they would grant amnesty to killers, sexual predators, and bank robbers. What’s the difference?

“While I recognize that immigration reform is urgently needed, based on what I’ve learned so far, I would oppose this proposal unless it is radically altered,”

I'm glad she's against it. But can't she say it in a less wimpy way?

"Radically altered?" How about, "Throw it out and start from scratch."? Or, "I oppose this bill in its entirety.'

It's like saying, "Unless Hitler radically alters his plan for the Jews, I would oppose his proposal."

Why can't these people learn how to speak?

Kyl is #3 in leadership.

Santorum was the last good conservative to make #3 in leadership, and see how it worked out for him....

U.S. Constitution, Article IV, Section 4 states:

“The United States shall guarantee to every state in this Union a Republican form of government, and shall protect each of them against invasion…”

These 12 million people are an invasion. Maybe not violent yet, but an invasion none the less.

It doesn’t seem that this President, or some members of Congress, are fulfilling their oath of office by upholding the constitution. IMHO that there’s grounds for impeachment.

“While I recognize that immigration reform is urgently needed, based on what I’ve learned so far, I would oppose this proposal unless it is radically altered,” said Dole.

Just toss it. It's a big government monstrosity that will never work. A boondoggle. It's laughable. Hideous. An abomination. Worse, far worse than doing nothing at all.

Any GOP senators who sign on to this betrayal should be targeted for replacement.

We don't need need new laws, just enforce the laws already on the books!

Dole's up for re-election next year.

That's why she opposes this.

I am starting to wonder why I continue to watch Fox News! I have to pay for the extra premium service to get Fox and I am seriously thinking of dropping it for a while! Greta, Geraldo, Barnes, Colmes and even at times Hannity are just too much to take anymore.

Oh yes, Geraldo’s show at 8 PM is about “The Life of an Illegal”. Just coincidental, of course.
