Call it a show of patriotic pride. Or call it a crass red-white-and-blue marketing ploy.
Either way, the city of Las Vegas has ordered a Hummer dealership to take down an American flag that flies 100 feet above the business.
Dan Towbin, owner of Towbin Hummer, said he was in disbelief at the City Council's decision this week to require the business to take down the 30-by-60-foot Stars and Stripes that has flown since May 2006 in front of the dealership.

Exactly: They had the Tam ‘O Shanter hotel that used to have a gigantic RAGGED hat spinning over it’s sign. Why is that OK, but not a flag?
glad you posted anyway. I had not seen it yet. Now let me see it is OK to burn the flag-1st amendment ya know, and it doen’t matter what is in your heart, but you can not fly the flag especially if you are not doing it to support the troops, but for some financial gain.
How whacked is that?
I have a retail business on Tropicana Avenue.
I emailed the Las Vegas Office of Business Development, the Las Vegas Review Journal, and Congressman Porter asking what the h*** the city council was thinking.
What else can I do?
This is freedom being taken away from us right before our eyes, not just this dealership. What if I want to fly a flag now?
Had the same problem out in CA and here’s what we did:

In LAS VEGAS and they’re worried about him being “too commercial”?????
LOL, true, there is nothing over the top in Las Vegas. It’s sort of Disney World with sex, alcohol and gambling. Not sure about Towbin Hummer, but Towbin Dodge is the dealership in the TV series King of Cars from Las Vegas, they are pretty over the top as human characters themselves.
Yeah yeah yeah. Right. You don’t have to fly a 60’ flag to be patriotic. At some point its overkill.
Its funny that the Las Vegas city council would find a huge American flag to be a crass marketing ploy. They live in a city that has a full size replica of the Eiffel Tower (Paris Hotel Casio) just down the street from a full size replica of the New York skyline (New York New York Hotel Casino). They live in a city that has a 4000+ room hotel that looks like a medieval castle (Excalibur Hotel Casino) and a full-size pyramid with a light on the top that astronauts can see from outer space (Luxor Hotel Casino). Irony, anybody?
