Whoa!! An answer finally? What happened 11-12 thousand years ago? Killed the mammoths and rhinos? Created the muck in Alaska with billions of smashed up bodies frozen in the permafrost?

Couldn’t have been a comet. Must have been them Fred Flintstone type SUV’s!

BTW, man 10-15 thousand years ago would have been very similar to modern man. A bath, a suit, and a touch of aftershave and he coulda passed in the finest clubs.

They even made a song about it:

You shake my nerves and you rattle my brain
Too much love drives a man insane
You broke my will, But what a thrill
Goodness, gracious, great balls of fire
I laughed at love ‘cause I thought it was funny
You came along and moved me honey
I’ve changed my mind, this Girl is fine
Goodness, gracious, great balls of fire
[Great Balls Of Fire lyrics on http://www.metrolyrics.com]

Kiss me baby, ooooh feels good
Hold me baby, I’m gonna love you like a lover should
Your fine, so kind
Got to tell this world that your mine mine mine mine
I chew my nails and I twiddle my thumbs
I’m real nervous, but it sure is fun
C’mon baby, you’re driving me crazy
Goodness, gracious, great balls of fire!!

That’s about right for the Araona Crater, but it’s also very close to when our last ice age ended.

Why would a comet explode above the earth?

Sounds a little fishy to me. Like a convenient excuse that cooling and warming are not natural cycles but occur due to outside influences.

Diamonds tell tale of comet that killed off the cavemen ???

Close. It was Diamonds that killed off the caveman.

Cavewoman discovered that diamonds make pretty jewelry and in no time at all they had to have bigger and prettier ones that the cavewoman next cave over. Result - caveman had to find a job and end his leisurely life of sitting around the cave.

If populations of creatures were destroyed “by fire”, how do we know they were there?
