Romney's Remarks At The MA Citizens For Life Mother's Day Pioneer Valley Dinner (May 10)

It's a honor to be with you and be with people who exemplify the pro-life values throughout their lives.

"I believe it's an honor to receive this award, as you can imagine.

"I recognize that it is awarded for where I am on the issue of life, not for where I've been.

"And I respect the fact that you arrived at this place of principle a long, long time ago.

"And I appreciate the fact that you're inclined to honor someone who arrived here only a few years ago.

"I'm evidence that your work, that your relentless campaign to promote the sanctity of human life, bears fruit.

"And I do follow, as Kevin indicated, a long line of converts - George Herbert Walker Bush, Henry Hyde, Ronald Reagan. Each of them made meaningful contributions to this cause.

"It is instructive to see the double standard at work here. When a pro-life figure changes to pro-choice, it hardly gets a mention. But when someone becomes pro-life, the pundits go into high dudgeon.

Romney strategy:

Demonize the media.

Deflect attention away from his flip-flops.

Pander pander pander!

The award referred to at the beginning of the speech is the 2007 Mullins Award for Outstanding Political Leadership given to Gov. Romney by Massachusetts Citizens for Life.

Step one: Romney decides to run for president and starts calling himself pro-life

Step two: Two years later, after declaring his presidential run, Romney gives Massachusetts Citizens for Life $15,000 in December 2006 (never donated before running for president, like he spread money around to lots of conservative orgs -- ONLY AFTER starting his run for president)

Step three: Romney installs his wife as a "leader" of Massachusetts Citizens for Life

Step four: Five months after getting $15000 from Romney, Massachusetts Citizens for Life gives Romney political leadership award

Who says money can't buy you love?

Interesting that he “changed his position” just as he was deciding to run for President

Well, ya gotta be "pro-life" to run downhall in the Repub primary; then ya gotta head to the largely non-committal "Bunny" slope in November. I guess what I find interesting is that it never seemed to be an "uphill" climb ski step by ski step in 5 feet of snow for him to be "pro-abortion" as an LDS leader. (Romney, I believe, has had bishop responsibilities at one time in the LDS church; so he wasn't just your average LDS deacon who becomes a deacon @ 12 years of age). Oh sure, to be pro-abortion in largely pro-abortion MA was a hugh downhill run.

But why did LDS themselves make it so easy for one of their bishops and public-face reps to be pro-abortion? [It's one thing for an LDS politician to be pro-abortion; it should be another thing to be pro-abortion minus spiritual resistance in light of (A) a well-educated grass roots; and (b) a church that published a line once that when a prophet speaks on a matter, "their thinking has been done" (Improvement Era LDS pub).]

ok...I just think your view is very tainted by the darkside. Why would Reagan’s abortion change of heart be real but Romney’s is not? Really you don’t know if Romney’s is real or not, you just choose to believe the worst.

I choose to believe the worst, because he’s been playing for the Left for over three decades. You don’t just hand power to someone like that because they have a lot of money and are slick. To do so is the height of foolishness.

If Hillary told you she was a conservative tomorrow, would you believe her?

Check out Duncan Hunter, too! I think he is by far the strongest conservative in the race. He stands for everything the left opposes.

This is a snapshot of Fred’s career.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_Thompson

He’s not a businessman, he’s an attorney. We’ve known him locally more for his working to root out corruption in government, and he helped to take down the profoundly corrupt rodent administration of Ray Blanton (a political cousin of Clintoon’s) back in the late ‘70s. TN was as corrupt as Arkansas in those days, but fortunately because we were the only southern state to have a 2-party presence, we could clean it up every so often.

It was that incident that led to a film which marked his unlikely career into acting. Can he think on his feet ? I’d say yes. He writes his own material and subs for Paul Harvey. To get an idea of how he dismisses liberal gnats, take a look at this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYH0i3UnWAY

My parents have met him in person, and he is an impressive figure and giant of a man. Is he the next Reagan ? I don’t know. Nobody’s Reagan except Reagan. Nobody should attempt to impersonate Reagan. He’s just Fred Thompson, and I think that’s how he likes it.

It doesn't matter how high the mountain of evidence against Romney is, you can count on his supporters to pretend it doesn't exist.
