I had the pleasure of attending Fred Thompson's speech to the National Restaurant Assoc. Here are some observations.
1. There were about 1500-2000 people. When he was introduced he got a standing ovation. (3 altogether)
2. He talked about his carrer from Asst US Atty in Nashville to Law and Order TV Series. He is very personable and has a great sense of humor.
3. He really hit a home run during the Q&A session. When he was asked a question about the American Indian gaming industry he politely told the person asking the question he new nothing about it and would not give a soft shoe answer about a subject he knew nothing about. He got a loud round of applause.
4. Immigration- His feeling when the WH annouced the deal last week, he thought it would pass. What he has seen this weekend he now feels it will not pass. He is against the bill even though no one has seen it.
5. The question about when he would annouce was asked. He said he was going to answer the question as direct as he could without being coy. He is traveling the country to see what are on peoples minds and see if they are ready for a straight talking boy from TN. He stated that the country maybe ready for it.
(at witch point the president of the assoc. interupted and said it sounds like a "soft yes" to running. Fred did not disagree with that.)
After hearing him speak I am convinced that we will be hearing some announcement in June.

I think he will run rings around any democrat nominee with his plain talk. They will not know how to counter it.
He made a promise to himself that he was not going to make the Senate a life long job. In washington he said there is nothing but egotistical back stabbing blowhards. So he decided to go Hollywood again. (LOL he kills me. )
I’m glad he has seen the backlash against amnesty and saw it as not passing. Glad he was against the bill. What is his view of the illegal mess and the border?

God I hope he gets in. That said, it was a straight (smooth) talking boy from Tennessee that talked my momma into a compromising postition some 38 years ago.....then he had to marry her.
