Reminds me of the line from "Blazing Saddles":
"We'll give some land to the N@ggers and the Chinks, but not the Irish!"
Business in Spanish, press #2? Si.
Little Mexico communities? Si.

“Ted Kennedy’s Immigration Reform Act of 1965 has created a situation in which 85 percent of our immigrants hail from the Third World and Asia.”
The 1965 Act was an abomination, but let’s be honest- not many Europeans would be coming here even if we had more liberal immigration policies. Their birth rates are way down, and too many of them are enamored of their own welfare states in Europe to come to the US and a more competitive economy.
Just look at Ireland- at one time they were having babies left and right, had a poor economy, and America was the safety valve. Same with Germany. If we favored Europeans more in immigration, some Irish and Germans would come here, but nothing remotely comarable to the old days.
And I’m not sure how much we want Russian or eastern European immigrants- the Russian immigrants we have tend to be disproportionately involved in fraud and crime. They are used to the easy buck and corruption of the East Bloc and bring that with them.
So yes, we’ve done a horrible job passing laws, but it’s also true that the pool of desirable immigrants has gone down.
In 1965, Ted Kennedy said that the immigration bill passed that year would NOT result in major changes to the ethnic composition of our population. Clearly he was wrong.
Why isn’t Ted Kennedy held to account for his major error with his 1965 legislation on immigration? He was so far off in his calculations of what would happen then. Why should we believe what he says now on this subject? His ‘65 bill unleashed a huge wave of immigration from the 3rd world that continues today. Why isn’t he blamed in part for the situation we face today?
Is he blameless just because he’s a good Democrat?

I called my US Rep. Nick Lampson,Democrat and gave my opinion, not sure what he'll do.
(Tom Delay's old seat. ..thanks Tom!)
I called EVERY Republican Senator this morning bar 2. Guess who is not taking calls?
Specter and Martinez! Que pasa?
With persistence I got all the others and I faxed them as well.
Keep up the GOOD FIGHT!
I found the article disgusting and it made me sick to my stomach... because it’s all so very true.
Why should they assimilate? They are constantly pandered to in their own language.
Unfortunately my senator is a traitor. And an idiot.

Yeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaa!
Just started working on my local reps!
“Why should they assimilate? They are constantly pandered to in their own language”
This is why thet WON’T assimulate!!!!
Yep. I wish that I could add something, but Duke hit a grand slam right out of the ballpark here.
It is incredible that after Kennedy’s disastrous immigration bill of 1965 and his lousy in-put into the failed Simpson-Mazoli bill of 1986, the US Senate should allow this two-time loser come up with yet a third losing proposition...and that McCain would actually attach his name to this monstrosity! That misjudgment alone disqualifies him from the presidency. With his rancid history, Kennedy should not be let anywhere near an immigration bill.
Liberalism has taught people to despise American culture.
